SC_Nikki has one of the best talents for creating JRPGs from her wonderful original ideas, and never before have I felt so honored to be a part of it all along with my friend Kayla who helped with Quality Assurance so the game was balanced. Her passion is just really strong with the force.
Nikki's other 4 beta/released games, known as "Elements 0, 1, 2, or 3" are from novels she has written all her life for 20 years! She also wrote a demo of Final Fantasy 1-2.
This game, FF2-2, takes place a few years after the events of FF2 ended and stars Nelly (Josef's daughter, a Monk), Kain (Ricard's Son, A Dragoon), and Paul the Thief (a resident of Fynn who helps you get into the basement of Fynn castle in FF2). The early chapters of the game start out like FF6, an event happens that splits up the party of Nelly, Paul, and Kain, and you must choose a scenario, kupo! Her choice of music for the first overworld theme is absolutely phenomenal! It's from an album known as FF Pray, and I often would just stop to listen to it and take it all in as enchanting as it was for me.
The midgame chapter after the 3 scenarios was quite the shock! I won't spoil things but I really loved the transitions between the different areas. The lategame area had both the original late game FF2 and the GBA/PSP Soul of Rebirth dungeons. All these areas had superbosses that were quite challenging! The final area definitely paid homage to FF3, and it had another superboss that was really difficult! The final boss though, definitely was a TOUGH ONE!
Notable Highlights:
- There's also homages to FF1-6 everywhere!
- Also - see if you can find where all the hidden pathways are on the edges of town!
- Minigames like chocobo racing, the slots, the battle arena, the Midas river, and of course, the infamous match up portraits which turns into frogs at Toad level 16 as a nod to the GBA and PSP versions Jet Ski minigame.
- There are SUMMONS in this game as well as Blue Magic!
- Grinding isn't as difficult as FF2, Magic spells levels are global!
