I was not really going to make an assessment of this game, but since in the end I had a good time on it, there is no reason for me not to give him a little blue boost.
Feral fury is, as said in his description, a "twin stick" shooter (a joystick to move, the other to aim/shoot) of type "rogue-like". This means that the gameplay focuses on quasi-constant movements and shots, often in small rooms, during a more or less long run taking place in a randomly created environment. And the recipe takes quite well.
The scenario takes place in the distant future (I hope...) where mankind is no longer and in which the Galaxy is controlled by the great Panda Empire. Apparently, the Empire is in great need of bamboo and transforms entire planets into plantations. It is from this perspective that he attacks a new planet, sends a single Panda Marine to rid it of the horrible pigs that inhabit it, and take control of it. And if he dies, we send another... always alone... to conquer a planet.... In short, the Panda Empire places high hopes in its Marines.
The game takes place in more or less large maps, with more or less rooms to explore, since these are created in a procedural way. In "normal" mode, there are 4 zones of 3 levels, plus one last boss for each zone (random boss also). There are 5 areas in "difficult" (always 3 levels + 1 boss), and only 3 zones in "easy" mode (with 3 levels, but no bosses). To move from level to level, you have to find in each the exit card in order to open the level exit room and reach the teleporter. It is not necessary to visit all the rooms.
The content of the game is rather ample. There are quite a few different enemies, explosive/incendiary barrels, blankets, various crates, chests locked or not with weapons/equipment/miscellaneous bonuses, traps, etc... We also find shops, improvement rooms to increase our stats to the detriment of our health, magical wells in which we throw our coins to receive a reward (which perhaps a curse or a Malus). There are many things that easily make the parts very different from each other.
Every enemy killed leaves behind orbs to pick up. These orbs serve, in the menu, to buy permanent improvements for our character (which will be activated at each run), or in full part to buy various bonuses/equipment/weapons or access more quickly to other areas via Teleporters.
After each boss, there is the possibility to make a level in vehicle (automobile) for at the end of the race get some bonuses, but these levels are optional, they do not make us advance in the areas and the bonuses obtained are very often far from being Essential. This just adds a mini-game, a variation of gameplay.
On the gameplay side, it's fluid and handy, the Dodge roll is immediate (and essential). The mistakes made come very often from us. It will take several parts to get used to the different enemies, remember how they attack, move, but also die because most of the enemies throw a Baroud of honor at the time of perish. It's die and retry.
For graphics and music/sounds, it sticks well to the futuristic Warrior atmosphere. It is both dark, mechanical and monstrous (... It is not easy to describe).
To conclude, Feral fury is a successful "twin stick", fun and well done. The difficulty is well adjusted, not too easy not to limit its interest and not too hard to not make it frustrating. It's a little game that reminds you, you die because of a silly mistake or the fault of luck, but you want to restart a run to go further because we know that we are better than that. Each part is different from the previous one, so the revelability is important as long as you have fun. If you like the "twin stick" genre, there is no reason that the game will not please you.
