Arcania is not Gothic, that's a fact. Arcania is just simple RPG requiring almost no skills from the player. I liked the story connections and references to previous Gothic games. For about 15 hours Aracania even entertained me, but it became too repetitive. Gameplay, quests, dialogues - all is dumbly simplistic.

ArcaniA Gothic 4-less Gothic Than desired?
Foreword I gave ArcaniA a second Chance and was surprised. Three Years ago, in 2013, I had alluded to the retail Version of ArcaniA and immediately uninstalled it before The Prologue ended. The Game disappointed me excessively and was, in my Eyes, an Insult to the Gothic series. When I had given ArcaniA a chance a few Days ago, I realized there's more to this gothic part than the Steam reviews say.
Prologue The Protagonist wakes up on the small Island of Feshyr and tells his beloved about the Nightmares that have plagued him for some time. In the latest Nightmare, he dreams of King Rhobar III, who was the Main Character of the previous Games. After the Player on the small Island does a Handful of Side Quests, he is sent on a small Mission by Diego. But when the Hero comes back, his Home Island is no longer as it was before.
Storyline The Story told in this Game launches as a revenge Plot and more or less ends in a rescue Operation with a little Twist. I would say that if the Story wasn't so linear, it would have been perfectly worthy of Being titled Gothic. Even though the Overall Plot of the Game is pretty winless, it's not bad.
Gameplay Even though the Secondary Title is Called Gothic, this Part has less to do with the previous Trilogy than can be imagined. The Combat System has been somewhat renewed. The Game dispenses with a large Talent Tree, which means that some Skills, such as learning Blacksmithing and Alchemy, are completely eliminated. Don't Worry, the Player can still make Weapons and Potions, just in a rather simplified Form: You don't need to make an Alchemy table anymore, but can just create them in the Menu. Unfortunately, ArcaniA is also not Open World as it is said. The Player can move freely and complete Quests in well-designed environments, but I can't get from the Initial Area to the Closing Area immediately, as is the case with Gothic 3 or Skyrim, for example. This restricts the Player quite strongly in Some cases, as the real Teleportations Bricks have also been replaced by stationary Teleporters. But all that, don't spoil the Fun! ArcaniA feels quite solid in a playful way and Is reminiscent Of the Gothic series through some Dialogues.
In My Opinion, the End is quite open and gives hope that at some point in the near or distant Future there will be a further Gothic Part.
The biggest Problem with the Game is that it has been suffering from massive FPS problems since Its release in 2010. Personally, I rarely get more than 35 FPS, and even that is not pointed. If the Rain sets in or a City is entered, the FPS can go to the Basement pretty quickly.
For the Purchase, Lineare Story speaks Well told Good and charming Dialogue You meet old Acquaintances: Diego, Gorn, Rhobar III, Xardas ...

Even though some are reminiscent of the former Parts of the Franchise, you can see that you don't play Gothic. Even the not 100% Open World tilts the Motivation somewhat. However, I think That ArcaniA is a solid Role-playing game, which nevertheless has less to do with Gothic than is written on the Packaging. I recommend acquiring the Game within a Sales and making an Impression of yourself, because it is nowhere near as bad as most claim.
