Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition review
Skip
by Mia Blais-Côté

Having played several "Tales of", including Symphonia, Abyss, Phantasia, Zestiria and Berseria, I was expecting a superb game. *Especially since I've read a lot of comments saying it was the best game in the license.*
I forced myself to finish it.
The storyline is so boring, the characters (except for Yuri and Repede) are dull as hell, the fighting (and I usually love fighting in a Tales of!) is meh.
I enjoyed the music, that's something.
Zestiria was my least favourite Tales of. Now it's back to Vesperia.

I really love JRPGs, but it was excruciatingly boring and veeeeeery long.

No Buy Recommendation ... ... No, Nonsense! Off to the Buying Button and hammers him. Seriously, Tales of Vesperia-Definitive Edition makes writing this Review pretty easy for Me. There are simply Games that mature with Age and the Tales series is the best Example of that. But before we get to the Story and the Characters, first a Foreword to The implementation ... As known by Bandai Namco, the Releases are mostly a complete Mess-You look back at Tales of Symphonia or, Dare I say it, Tales of Zestiria. Luckily, there has been a Community Patch for each Release so far, which makes the faulty releases Playable Again ... But the Question is: Do you need it for Tales of Vesperia-Definitive Edition? -Jaein: The Game has a very big Problem once it's in the 60 FPS Range or below. If you Play on 90, 120, 144 FPS, there is only Screentearing, which can be fixed by V-Sync (Here: corresponding Hertz number on the Monitor indicates how much FPS is possible with V-Sync to the maximum-Read: 144Hz = 144 FPS and so on). The Release is therefore not exactly the Yellow of the Egg But, provided suitable hardware, well playable (It looks different on Consoles and Handhelds, but this is not a topic here). Glossing does the Game with Content and not too scarce! You played the Xbox360 version of Tales of Vesperia? Then get ready! There was a Version that has appeared for the PS3 with extra Scenes, Game Content, Skits and even a playable pirate Loli for the Troupe. Flynn Scifo, too, was now playable more than once in the Game! This and a Full Setting in English and Japanese is Served here by Bandai Namco with the Definitive Edition for only 40€! In the Game you are Yuri Lowell, a former Knight from the Lower City of Zaphias in a World called Terca Lumireis. The Inhabitants of the Lower City have treated themselves to a Blastia (a Kind of mechanical/magic Device) in order to be able to access clean Drinking Water from the Main Fountain. But everything goes To Schief, the Blastia Core of the Fountain is stolen and our "apparently" justice fanatical Main character sets out in search of the Culprit. In old Role-playing fashion, this will entangle us in a Tale of epic proportions that will captivate even diehard RPG freaks for days. Even though sometimes I had almost nothing Good to say about the Game, there are a few bad Sides. Let's Start with the new Full Setting: Tales of Vesperia is 10 Years old until Dato And the Full Setting of Bandai Namco in English is not! You can see This in several Places, but especially in our Main Character ... Instead of the tried-and-tested Voice for Yuri "Troy Baker," someone new has been chosen and although you have to listen a little more closely in some Places to remember the Difference, the Difference in other Places falls right into the Ear. The new Character Patty Fleur, from Grundauf, is the Second Shortcoming of the Definitive Edition: One notices in some Cutscenes that this Character was Inserted in Retrospect. Some of the Dialogues with her make little to No sense and just leave us out in the Rain like that. It can be done in a different way! Summary: + Very beautifully designed Landscapes. + Great Many Times respectable Cities, battle Areas and Monsters. + Quick learning Combat Mechanics (Easy to learn, hard to master!) + Many Characters over which you can also take Control in Combat. + Very interesting Story with many Aspects. + Very interesting Characters you meet. + Subtle, well-crafted Side Quests and Achievements. + Difficulty is refreshingly demanding. + Exquisite Full Setting down to a few small Carkos. -Microstutter At 60 FPS and below. -Character Patty Fleur has been poorly integrated. -The Synthesis (Crafting menu) could initially have a strong crushing Effect. -Main Character with two Voice Actors. -Some of the Side Quests are quickly overlooked without the Help of a strategy guide. -Problems with the vibration option for Controllers. Verdict: No Bandai Namco Port is perfect, even Tales of Vesperia-Definitive Edition is not! But that must not stop you. Not for nothing is Tales of Vesperia as The second best game in The Tales of Series Community. It hurts me in the Heart not to be able to reveal too much of the Story to get you to Taste ... But the Game picks up on so many Elements that there is only one Option left for the Review reader: Hands-on test!
