Headliner review
Exceptional
by Mia Blais-Côté

A game with important decisions, a very simple "Papers, Please" or "The Westport Independent". I liked it, but it has a very, very short lifespan. I was able to make 4 gameplay in less than two hours, because by skipping all the dialogues, you can get to the end of the game in less than ten minutes. My first game took me half an hour.

The Bottom Line is that HEADLINER is a text adventure. In other words, the Focus is on Reading fun, Decisions that have to be made and the resulting Consequences. As Headliners, we decide which Messages will be published and how the Population will (or do not) be published. HEADKLINER is set in the fictional State Of Galaxia and is set in a (not too?) distant Future. Thanks to modern Technology, it has become possible to genetically modify People. One of two Main Lines Of Conflict revolves around the Tensions between the modified Majority and the unmodified Minority (Purists). The second Conflict revolves around a War in the Neighbouring Country and the resulting Refugee problem. In addition, Internal security opinions must also be published. Graphic: 5/10 The Graphics are more useful: A simple Office, pixelated Figures and simple Character Designs. But Is also a text adv., which is why it shouldn't matter that way. Sound: 7.5/10 The Music is apt: In the Office rather pointed to Tension when it comes to making the decisions about the news, on the Streets, when you experience the Effects (which are not always beautiful), rather melancholy. Gameplay: 8/10 For a total of 8 Days, we are allowed to publish the Day's News. The Game splits into three Sections that repeat themselves daily. It starts with the Working Day in the Office, where you get a short Briefing from the Assistant and are also kept Informed of how satisfied the Supervisors are with the Work. We Then have to decide which Messages are published and can thus take Positions for Majorities or Minorities or also issue informational Articles. In the second Part, we head home and experience the Impact of our Work On the Streets: Demonstrations, Boycott calls, attacks, Police Lockdowns – we have it in our Hands. In the third Section we are having Dinner with the Family. This also responds to the published Articles and is directly affected by the overall Social impact. Story/Atmosphäre/Characters: 7/10 It's less about the Characters here; They are just there and also affected by the current Events. Rather, Decisions and Consequences are at the Forefront of this. The Satisfaction Of the Family Is only a Partial Aspect. It is also exciting when you see how the Group you support is gaining more And more influence and where that leads. Atmospherically extremely successful. Play Time: 2.0 h For the one-time Play I needed 2 h. But You can also do it much faster. I read through everything carefully (you should do that with a text adv.) and gave me a little more Time in the Decisions and Dialogue Options and thought about what could have the Implications. That's not bad, though, as the Replay value is higher. In fact, it is worth grazing off all The Achievements here. The Story evolves in different Directions depending on the Articles, so you need multiple Runs to have seen all the Ends. After 3.7 hours I haven't seen everything yet. At a Price of only 3,-it's definitely worth it. Fun: 8/10 Pro or Contra? Building Peace or fomenting Conflict? Building Police State or not? It's Fun to try it all out and see what end this Leads to. Clear Recommendation. Total: 8/10
