Really solid until it super drags at the end. You're just kinda stopped and asked if you wanna do some shallow side quests - one for each character - and all those bosses (including Lavos, whether or not you choose to do the sidequests) somehow manage to turn a JRPG into a game of memorization. Even classics have a tough time escaping from retro game sensibilities and this is no exception.

A timeless masterpiece brought about by two of the JRPG geniuses of the 90s. An absolute must play for any storyteller.
Waited way to long. RPG's were never my thing when I was younger, so I had I not even heard of Chrono Trigger, let alone play it. A friend has been recommending it for years to me, and I finally played it. A masterpiece. I feel that if I had played it when I was young, I would have gotten into games like this way sooner. It was fantastic!

Chrono Trigger is without a doubt a masterpiece way ahead of its time. It blends perfectly character design, music, story, combat, just everything is nearly perfect and it's not an exaggeration. I loved almost every second of it, I don't believe any review will give the praise it deserves so I think that everyone needs to try this for themselves, be wary that the PS1 version (which was the one I played it) has a mildly annoying loading rate at the beginning and the ending of the battles, other than that its a very good port.
