Star Citizen review
Exceptional

The game rewards patient players bountifully. It's the most immersive game I've ever played and the best space simulator to date.

Warning: the game is full of bugs. You might get disappointed when you seemingly can't do anything without smth breaking. Sometimes the progress gets wiped as well
Another warning: the learning curve is actually a learning wall, and there's no tutorial. Watch some community-made tutorials, get a volunteer guide, ask people in global chat.

Once you learn the ropes (including how to avoid bugs) you have an extremely detailed sandbox where you can do many things, solo or in company. Any game loop is quite deep and hard to master.
What CIG got really-really right is sense of scale (everywhere), attention to detail, physics, and transitions between on-foot, vehicles, stations etc. You won't find anything like that.

There is no level-upping in this game. If you're good, you're good. Actual skills and knowledge is your char development. There's an underdeveloped reputation system, but it only allows you to get in-game money faster.

Emergent gameplay is awesome. E. g. people do races, sightseeing, meetups, piracy, role-play, and every bit of it is superb. Play with friends or join an org, it's worth it. You'll need crew for larger ships anyway.

P. S. You'll be fine with the cheapest starter pack. Expensive ships won't give you actual edge over other players, and also they can be bought for in game currency.
P. P. S. You'll be fine with mouse and keyboard as well. But don't try to run this without an SSD or 16G RAM.
