SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom — Rehydrated review
by BloodScorchedSun

There are a few aspects of this game I didn't enjoy, like the platforming and some of the forced combat stuff that just didn't work in areas. Knowing this is a remaster makes it bit more manageable. None of these things can dampen the spirit of the game though. There is a lot of love put into this game that fans of the show will love. Lots of references, all the voice actors aside from a few and a lot of charm. It's also an easy platinum if you play all the way through and get all the spatulas and socks.

It’s great that SpongeBob and Patrick are the voice actors (from what I can tell). It’s a bummer Mr. Krabs isn’t though. I could immediately tell.

Played for an hour or so. It was fun nostalgia for a Saturday morning. I remember liking this game as a kid. I don’t need to play anymore.

Shouldn’t really rank it but I’m giving it a low B.

Final Score: B
A perfect remake carrying over even the faults
A 100% faithful remake of the classic, even to a fault.

The beginning is much stronger than the end. Near the end, the references start to fizzle out and the platforming becomes a lot of finding ways to fly through the air. That said, the platforming and references, at least up until Sand Mountain, are up there with some of the best licensed games ever. I actually can't think of another licensed game with better references except maybe Simpson's Hit & Run. The bosses are great especially the final boss. Really, really solid platformer that fits with the whole collectathon revival that's having its moment right now.
