Tomb Raider: Legend review

Really good. Levels are fun and the shadow chases are tense

This game feels very dated and if not for the rewind feature on PSN it would've been more of a slog that it was. That being said I also had an issue with that feature that somehow erased a hard save of the game so that I had to play the entire Japan level over again so there is that. The game is enjoyable in it's adventure story but is easily outdone in the modern reboot. At the time of release there was so great quality of life changes and features from the older games that we don't really appreciate anymore.

"Tomb Raider: Legend" was the much-needed Reboot of the legendary Series in 2006. After the largely failed "Tomb Raider IV: The Angel Of Darkness," in which the Developers had become badly bogged Down on too many Construction Sites, a Reboot and a Focus on the Essentials was more than necessary. At its core, the Principle remains intact. Again, we hang, climb, bounce and shoot our way through the Levels, lay levers, press switches, move Chunks of stone and have to be careful not to crash and also have to fight back all sorts of Getiers and also mystical And humanoid opponents. There Are Also boss Fights. And even if the Proportion of Fighting has increased, primarily we are still moving around the Hillside and Lever, which then opens a Door to it. The Mechanics are, by and Large, a very good and successful Continuation of the Genre. Gone are the Days when Lara Had to be controlled with Tank Controls using a keyboard exactly how to control it with a Pixel device. The Input with mouse and keyboard as well as with Controller works well and Fluidly. The throwing Hook, which can not only be used to cross larger Canyons, but is also used for Many Puzzle solutions, is very useful. The Graphics have taken a huge Leap and are still very handsome today. The Sound and Music are typically epic and high-quality. Which surprises, however: "Tomb Raider: Legend" is amazingly short With about seven Hours of play compared to your Predecessors, with whom you liked to spend more than 20 Hours, and also very simple. Apparently, the Reboot should also be an even clearer Focus on the Mass Market. Luckily, level and Puzzle design Are pleasingly varied. The Locations, like Lara'S Wardrobe, are also varied and atmospherically strong, although this Time Croft Manor mutates into a rather pointless dressing Room, the Training Room is, of course, exempt. And the Flow of the Game is also one of the best in the Series. A Matter Of taste, but rather unnecessary for me, is the greater Weighting of fights. They have never been a Highlight of the Series and work only slightly passable here. It gets Annoying when you are still riding on an unwinding Motorcycle in endlessly looking level Passages. Also more than questionable is the Introduction of occasional quick time events that make the already simple game more skill-free. The Camera of the Third-person title usually works quite well, even if it is sometimes-especially in confined spaces-not quite up to the Times. Despite all The Criticisms. "Tomb Raider: Legend" is a really good Reboot, which is mainly mechanically convincing and largely finds its way back to the Core of the Series. Rating: 8/10 Atmosphere 6/10 Story 8/10 Graphic 7/10 Sound 8/10 Game Mechanics 6/10 Balancing 8/10 Game Pass Conclusion: Conclusion of convincing restart of a large Series, which, however, is quite short and overall too easy. 7/10 Overall Rating

A good game for Tomb Raider. I'd say this is neither good than the original, nor bad than the first reboot game. The plot was nice and I enjoyed it. The gameplay is also okay, but the wonky camera was very irritating and spoiled lots of jumps for me. I enjoyed the time spent, and I got this one for free for pre-ordering another Lara Croft.
