I played on pc. Good game, but bad port. Frame-rate is capped below 60 fps without messing with Nvidia control panel or finicky fan-made software. I couldn't use the nvidia control panel method because it wouldn't appear and Nvidia doesn't believe in good features like manually finding a program. I couldn't be bothered to figure that out so I just used another method that worked mostly. Unfortunately, the game has a known issue of running at 20 fps or lower whenever it felt like it. Apparently this is a known issue and yet after nearly five years it has yet to be patched. I don't have any nostalgia for Crash Bandicoot so I just refunded. Maybe I'll give it another shot when it's fixed but I doubt that'll happen since Vicarious Visions has been absorbed by Blizzard and Iron Galaxy likely won't or can't continue to patch the game. Oh well...

My thoughts on Crash Bandicoot: The blurry maze of remasters and remakes and the balance of fair vs. unfair challenge in video games

Played Via: PS5 physically as part of N. Sane Trilogy

Platinum Status: Pain, I AM SO CLOSE BUT THOSE F**KING TIME TRIALS AND THAT GODAMN STORMY ASCEN…*ahem* I mean no.

Introduction

Okay so as of writing this I have been stuck on the free DLC mission added to this game, (stormy ascent) for what seems like an eternity and considering a good chunk of my sanity may still not have returned to me at this moment in time I thought it might be time to actually just start writing about what I thought about game before I end up hating it and in turn result to dolphin diving out of my bedroom window. Now this may be slightly oxymoronic (that’s a word I have decided) considering what I just said but I must say I thought this game, while challenging, was so fun and earnest in what it wanted to be and how it respected the franchise it’s a part of, which really is what is what ALL remasters should strive to be. If you want a game that you can just play whenever you like without having to follow any complex story or overwhelming game systems then this is what you should be playing.

A phenomenal remaster of the best platformer trilogy of all time.
3 dias pa aprender a dar doble salto pero so good
First one:
Weird controls. The depth feels off. It’s hard to tell where crash is going to land. Pretty frustrating at times. Also semi-satisfying when successful.

I like that the game has vertical, horizontal, and towards/away from the screen challenges. That keeps it fresher. The difficulty is quite high. It’s keeping my interest because it’s challenging. The problem is that the difficulty is often due to the game not feeling super tight. Still I am enjoying it. It’s nice to just be able to pick it up right away and play for a bit. It’s not a long commitment. I like having a game like that on the go.

The controls are frustrating. It feels like it has a half second lag before crash starts moving. The depth is hard to see. And I don’t like how he slides off the edge of platforms so often if you don’t squarely land on it. This might be a game that I slowly chip away at for awhile. I hope the second and third feel tighter.

Beat the first game. I hope the second feels better.

I lost interest.

Final Score: B
Definetely worth playing 9\10
