At one point I decided to backlog this game and didn't intend to play it. I'm glad I changed my mind, it won me over in the first hour. It was mostly the gameplay that did it for me. I really liked the combination of squad planning and automated battles. Even if I had to yell at the AI a few times for attacking instead of healing.

Symphony of War is a fun but flawed Fire Emblem-like game.
I like the unit variety and the unit building system, you basically have many unit types which you form squads with with squads able to have up to 9 units. These units are your characters and they auto-battle the enemy units, a fun gameplay mechanic which always had me double check my squads after missions.
While the gameplay is good, the level design is weak, not bad, but the missions themselves can be boring and uninteresting. The story is mediocre, but most characters are likeable and I wish there was more dialogue and interactions between the characters.
Overall, it's a decent game and I am curious to see how the sequel will improve.
