Unexpectedly Fun

War of the Chosen takes a great game and simply makes it better. Every system has been made a little deeper, and been given just a bit more detail. The new characters (including the eponymous "Chosen") are fun, interesting, and well-acted (by many Star Trek TNG / Gargoyles vets, no less!).
The retro soundtrack included in the Reinforcement Pack blew me away, and you should definitely check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U73SNMrYMY&list=PLplWQWlFS077SlH51u-hSG1Y20YuKeqcS

I review games based on my experience with them. My experience with war of the chosen was the weakest of the 3. This isn’t because it’s the worst, it’s because they don’t change a lot and I had grown I bit more tired of the formula. I liked some of the additions this game made but because it’s so similar I was the most bored with this one.

I am baking the base game of XCOM 2 into this review, because War of the Chosen does everything the base game does and more. XCOM 2 is simply a fantastic tactical video game, with high moddability, decent customization of your soldiers, and a difficulty curve that does not wait for you to catch up. Even if you don't like the challenge and just want to play a game where you train an elite squad to kill aliens, the lower difficulties are quite fun.
