This is a really good take on older style horror games, though I wouldn't consider it horror exactly. I think the game plays good, there are mechanics in place that balance things so you aren't too strong. There is also a hidden shellshock system that didn't start taking effect until near the end which was really cool to see pop up out of nowhere. The aiming can be finicky sometimes but overall I didn't have much trouble. Very good, oppressive atmosphere befitting WW1. I think they did a great job with the RE style backtracking and puzzles though some areas should've had more shortcuts open up. The ammo economy was good, I was never overflowing until the end of the game when I pretty much just dump all the cigs into crafting mats. The tone of the game is pretty heavy. This is more of a 'real horror' game than the horror you might think of. WW1 was brutal in almost primal ways and this game captures that trench warfare brutality. You will regularly find photos of loved ones on the body of a German you just beat to death with a shovel. The game also takes a very Silent Hill type turn near the end but I won't spoil that.

Very interesting take of the classic game design of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Lots of puzzles, inventory management and route planning. While I enjoyed a lot the mix of terror and tension that war gives us, I believed the game to be very long, by the end of it I was rushing a lot. Nice game tho.
