Star Wars Outlaws is the best Star Wars game I've ever played. Massive Entertainment achieved something rare: a Star Wars experience set in the margins of the saga, far from Jedi and Sith, in a living, breathing criminal galaxy, without ever betraying the license's soul. Exploration is generous and constantly rewarding. Each planet has its own identity. Speeder riding and space travel provide immediate, lasting pleasure. Kay, Nix and ND-5 form an endearing trio you won't want to leave.
The open-world exploration is the best Star Wars has ever seen – each planet has its own atmosphere, ecosystem, culture, and relationship with the Empire. Speeder handling is a genuine joy, especially with the water-gliding upgrade. Space navigation is smooth and intuitive with no visible loading screens. Kay is a flawed, credible heroine who grows on you. Nix is adorable and useful. ND-5 brings unexpected depth. Visually stunning on Snowdrop, especially in ultrawide. The soundtrack and sound design are excellent, faithfully extending the saga's musical DNA.
Yes, there are minor issues: occasional input sluggishness in parkour, some Nix mechanics could be more automated. But overall, this is an ambitious, polished, generous blockbuster. One of Ubisoft's best mainstream titles in years. An absolute must-have for any Star Wars fan.

I enjoyed this game for them most part but I do wish they would have focused more on the outlaw and scoundrel side of the story instead of falling back into the Rebellion vs Empire trope that just about every other SW game has. I will give it credit for not having any jedi in it. There was a lot of potential in the systems that didn't really go anywhere. Most of your upgrades will be maxed out fairly soon in the game, especially if you do a good amount of contracts. I found it annoying that a lot of the ship upgrades only had one or two levels to them, leaving you a fairly basic toolset. The story was meh for the most with Nix carrying most of the weight. I am surprised the platforming and climbing weren't better seeing as this is Ubisoft who has an entire franchise built on climbing walls. Granted this is Massive, you'd still think some of that would trickle down. What really ruined this game for me was after getting a little over half way through the game it started crashing like crazy. I think I had to have experienced at least 25 crashes in as many hours, if not less, when finishing the game up. I haven't had technical issues like that on console in a very long time.
