Songs of Conquest is one of the most accomplished indie strategy games of recent years, and the spiritual heir to Heroes of Might & Magic III that fans have been waiting for. Lavapotion has achieved the impossible: capturing the soul of the classic while enriching it with original mechanics, all wrapped in breathtaking pixel art. The 4X gameplay is deep and rewarding: explore, collect resources, develop cities and Wielders, and fight tactical turn‑based battles on hex grids. The magic system – where essence from slain units fuels spells – is a brilliant innovation. The four factions are radically different, guaranteeing excellent replayability. The pixel art is a revelation: detailed, animated, expressive. The epic orchestral soundtrack elevates the presentation. The only real downsides: the early access build was still uneven in places, and the learning curve is steep for newcomers.
An essential title for any fantasy 4X strategy enthusiast. A masterpiece in the making.
