Black Skylands review
by Rogueh

Black Skylands is a pleasant indie surprise for fans of aerial action and steampunk open worlds. Its responsive, snappy piloting delivers satisfying sensations, whether in intense dogfights or simply navigating between floating islands. Exploration is a joy, with each island holding discoveries, resources, and enemies. Combat requires tactical thinking, and the progression system is solid, with upgrades, skills, and crafting. The steampunk universe is coherent and visually polished, with a distinctive art style and atmospheric soundtrack. The story is serviceable but forgettable. The game shows its indie roots: some UI clunkiness, balancing issues, limited enemy variety, and occasional performance dips on Switch. It could use more polish, but it's an honest, enthusiastic adventure for those looking for something different. A good find if you can overlook its rough edges.
