Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara review
by MeZev

This is a game for all retro fans, finally on PS3. If you like DnD, you’ll definitely enjoy gameplay and all these fights with various creatures. The only confusing part is old-school game design - but it’s a matter of opinion. Game is better with friends so try the co-op.

Note about Gamepads-officially only 360 Pad! = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = The XBox 360 Pad should be recognized immediately. Important: If the Start of the Game is "Press Space Key," simply press "Start" on the Pad-then the Game runs in Gamepad Mode, otherwise only the Keyboard can be used. I don't have a 360 Pad but use a small tool (x360ce) that makes the Game a 360 Pad-works easily with a simple USB Pad. Download The Tool and unpack it in The Directory of the Game, Start > Set Pad > Then definitely quit the Tool again > then start the game. Now to the Game = = = = = = = = = = The Game I think is very nicely done. It's a side scroll beat ' Em Up released as a Slot Machine in the ' 90s. Amazingly, CAPCOM's D & D Theme was fully met here. I never thought the D & D works as a Sidescroller:) The Player (4 people can let off steam at the same time-but I haven't tried) can choose one of several D & D Classes-from fast blush to warriors to the elf magician, there is some Choice. As usual in D & D, Magicians have limited magic slots per Day, etc ... The Opponents are, of course, all from the D & D Universe and have their typical Attacks. As in a small Campaign, you fight your way through evil Monsters and experience a little Story-pushed by successful boss opponents. Unfortunately, the Game has a fierce Degree of Difficulty-which was so common at the time. After all, the Version here is easier to put-but I don't yet have the Feeling of even profoessing the Game to some extent;) Notably, as with an RPG, your own Characters also develop a bit and the Skills from the D & D Game have been taken over. After some Levels you can buy items in Shops against In-game silver (primitive) Items and heal yourself. Everywhere you will find small Treasures or new Objects. Items such as special Armor also wear out and eventually break. The Control is recommended only with a Gamepad or arcade stick-officially only the 360 Controller works. But then the Game can be controlled flawlessly. Graphics Options include Scanlines and an Upscaler, as well as various "Screen margins." It looks quite ok, but that it's over 20 old;) This Bundle also includes the first Part, which you can easily select at the touch of a button in the Game. My Conclusion = = = = = = You notice in places that the Game used to "motivate" people to throw in more Coins. Even overall, it has a brutal 90S degree of Difficulty that is far higher than that of many of today's games. It therefore appeals more to the hardcore gamer (or the D & D Fan). Impressive is the entire D & D Implementation-Heroes, Monsters, abilities, Items and Places are incredibly well hit. Overall, a great Game that I only discovered by Accident.
Well, if you really want to play this game, choose the Wii U version. It’ll be much more comfortable - at least you’ll be able to actually control your movements. The PS4 version is unplayable - like many retro games on this platform, though.
