Echo Lake review
by Elwyn

An exceptional first chapter, but the second part is unpoetic and over-simplistic. Would have put Exceptional if it was only for the first part.

Early access review Echo Lake is finally available in early access on steam after a long and painful teasing. We embody a 9-nine young boy who walks on a river in his boat. Thanks to his telescope and other objects that he discovers in his adventure, he will be able to discover mysterious constellations allowing him to make the link between space and nature. As he progresses, he will be able to unlock new abilities to clarify the strange mysteries of this river. All who have a good memory will remember this concept but with another name, Observatorium. Indeed, capsule three had already presented its game a few years ago and it is only 2 and a half years later that it is finally available at the stage of astronomer alpha. The goal is to reap the maximum return on the game in the current state in order to improve the concept and propose new modes of play and other features. So it's possible to get your hands on a lot of levels and test your patience and logic on a hundred puzzles. Walk in fresh water. The concept of the game is simple, so we run our boat on a river that seems endless and we have to solve puzzles based on lines that we draw with our mouse. There are some stars that can be used as a basis for our constellation drawings and it will be necessary to show malice to ensure that all the elements of the constellation are illuminated by our paths. Things start slowly but you get to more complex situations fast enough. Indeed, it is not possible to have 2 lines that touch the same star. It will therefore be necessary to think carefully about the best way to illuminate the so-called constellation. Echo Lake is not limited only to gameplay gimmick, it will also anticipate some mechanisms involving local wildlife that will help us to carry out our mission. Echo Lake is a great game that spins on the unity engine. The realization is splendid even if is in a sleek and Zen style. The choice of colors is brilliant just like the sound part of the game. The music is in perfect harmony with the atmosphere and what the game wants to bring to the players in 2017. We control our character with the help of the keyboard and the mouse. At the moment, only QWERTY keyboards are taken into account but you can switch its locale or simply use the directions keys to move. We can also give a boost to our boat with the SHIFT key and turn around with Q. The puzzles are quite simple overall but the difficulty rises quickly in range from the 3rd level. The game manages to renew itself in its gameplay and one does not yet feel frustration or boredom even after 1 or 2 hours of play. Having not yet finished everything that the game proposes, I can not tell you how long it will take you to unlock everything. As early access, there is a strong bet that the content will be updated often and that we will be offered new challenges. So I remain fully satisfied with what Echo Lake proposes as it is and I look forward to returning to play as soon as possible in order to unlock everything and find as much secrets as possible.
