Yakuza 6: The Song of Life review
Exceptional
by Juri

A great thing about Yakuza 6 is that you can skip previous games in series (except the first one) to understand the plot. The story here is the best part, very touching and attractive, so the game is worthy to play while it’s not as good as the original in general. The graphics became much better with the dragon engine too.

A somewhat rough start in the Dragon Engine, but the story is fantastic

Good bye Kiryu.
I know we will see Kiryu in other games but after 7 games I played... Kiryu's story is over for me.
An excellent game. It's got a cast of great characters and the story itself is very enjoyable. The new engine looks amazing and feels great to play on a controller. Combat is epic and brutal, although it's not nearly as over-the-top as the previous games. EVERYTHING is voiced. Yes, even side quests! There's a few small callbacks to 0 throughout the game which is a nice touch.

There's a few downsides such as iconic characters from previous games being absent for almost the entire game (Majima, Saejima, Daigo). Some of the villains aren't very exciting; some are great. I feel as though the plot could have been done with characters we already know and love instead of a whole new group of people.

Overall a great experience. I spent over 40 hours on it, and A LOT of that was doing fun side activities.
The babysteps of the Dragon Engine make the gameplay a bit wonky occasionally but the story is an absolute rollercoaster

What a masterpiece. An emotional roller coaster from beginning to end, and a true end to the Kiryu saga.

Amazing game.
Yakuza fans aren't all kind with it but man, it's my favourite Yakuza game now.
The end is just pure perfection, despite whoever says otherwise.

A good game for those who never played Yakuza before but the fans of the series will be disappointed. The story doesn’t connected to the previous games, the characters are completely new, and the game doesn’t feel like apart of the series. And I also don’t like this new combat system everybody praises, so I can’t recommend the game, if you had a blast about the previous titles.
