Dark Souls: Remastered review
by RodEnzo

Nota final: 8.0

Hauntingly beautiful, brutally challenging, and woefully addicting.

Truly awesome, didn't expected it to be so good to this day. I expected it to be more difficult.

Honestly not sure what rating to give it. For someone who's never played Dark Souls 1, I would definitely recommend; there's a lot to like about this game, be it the great atmosphere, mostly cool boss fights, amazing soundtrack and interesting lore plus the phenomenal DLC. However as a remaster this is a complete and utter failure, quite possibly the worst remaster I have ever played. Other than a few QOL changes and better particle effects, there is 0 difference between this and the Prepare to Die Edition (it even retains gamebreaking bugs from the PTD lmao).

Recommended if you've never played, skip if you've played the Prepare to Die Edition.

The game have a certain charm to it with gigantic boss fights
to address the well over a year old controversy with regards to how it released, FromSoft (read: Bandai Namco) didn't do the best job of releasing it
it's a shame that prepare to die is off steam because, while i do think remastered is a better way to play the game overall, the modability of prepare to die can only be experienced by people who already own it
also making it only half off for existing owners was shit, even Bethesda didn't do that for Skyrim
i still bought it though because i wanted pvp (and the pvp in one is shit, don't bother), but i ended up finally 100%ing the game on this version

okay actual game overview

the beauty and excellence of dark souls has long been catalogued, it's a meme at this point to even begin to compare anything else to it because of how influential its success has been
the first half of this game is next to perfect, at least to me
the overall experience is very flawed but in a human way that i can still feel passionate about, up until the second half where it all falls apart because the development team didn't have the resources to properly finish the game as wanted
i think in years to come, this game could do with a proper remake that fixes that second half as i do believe it to be some of the weakest content in the overall Soulsbourne series

but what it does right it does very well, i'm certain if you're reading this you've played it so i don't exactly have to say how it works or whatever
but i will say that i love it, flaws and all
it's just a shame that i rarely actually finish the game these days because of that second half, but what i do like i passionately adore
it's worth playing once in your life if you've never touched it, just know it's not for everybody

Remastered... or not!? Rarely has the Field of Consumers been as divided Opinion about a remaster title as with Dark Souls. Already after the first moving Pictures on YouTube there were screams of the Community, the Dark Souls: Remastered was supposed to be ashamed of themselves. But what's actually behind it and is the Remaster really that bad? The Graphic technique is particularly pleased about a whopping 60FPS-also at the FPS cemetery Blighttown. In addition, there are chic Fog, suspended Textures, ambient Occulusion, depth Blur and resolutions all the way to the 4K here and There. Sound and Atmosphere is still dark Souls. :) The Controversy The Field of those who complain, mock and murge is sparsely sown by People who don't like Dark Souls. Quite the Opposite. Those who complain here actually just want the best possible Version of a Game that they love-and have been for Years. Many Innovations of the remaster version have already moved into the PC version through the Community'S DSfix patch and therefore feel to us PC users above all, like a paid patch that has been released far too late. Good, bad, mediocre? The high Expectations and Hopes set aside is Dark Souls: Remaster a good Version of the Game that most played about 7 Years ago. Liquid Frames and up to 4K are simply Worlds compared to the PC release at the time. Even with the Stomach Crum that we vllt that. With the DSfix already had, it's nice to be able to play the Whole Thing without a Patch. Multiplayer has been improved and expanded (Yes Cheater, I know) and for those who want to play the Game offline, there is finally the Possibility to log out of the Main Menu. Graphically, the Remaster looks considerably fancier, even if it can no longer match modern Titles with its 7 Years. Here, though, there would certainly have been Air upwards. The Thing about the "omnidirectional Role ..." If we're honest, we know that because of the opponent and boss AI, the Game would be broken. So let's be fair here. ;) Verdict I'm happy with what the Remaster brings even if it could certainly be more and happy to see that sometimes new People are accessing and immersing themselves in the Dark Souls series. Whether the Price of 40 Euros or 20 Euros is justified for Owners of the original title, everyone has to decide for themselves. There is a clear Praise the Sun from me! If you want to get an honest Impression of Gameplay, atmosphere and sound, just look into my ripped up and Discuss the Meaning and nonsense of remaster titles OR just look directly into the ongoing Let's Play: TANGLED: DARK SOULS: REMASTERED Let's Play • DARK SOULS: REMASTERED I wish-as always-a lot of Fun in Teasing! :D

This game is great chance for those who missed the title back then to feel the excitement of the original title. Maybe, it could be better visually, but it’s not very important for me. I like how the game makes me satisfied with the gameplay and the spirit of that old school Dark Souls.
