I probably didn't give Valdis Story the time it deserved. After just under two hours, I had seen enough. The game tries hopelessly to capture the same feeling as classic Castlevania-like games. It instead feels cheap and unpolished, with clunky controls, bad animation, bad art, and grating sound design. If you're starved for metroidvania content, maybe this is a good buy, but there's a huge supply of better games out there in this very genre.

I don't have much to blame for this game. -It looks good visually, it has a nice graphic paw and the music is really nice. -The notes genre is well respected. -Maneuverability is relatively correct, even if it may require a small initial adpatation time. -Skills, magic and equipment offer good prospects in terms of customizing the gameplay. -Enemies with sufficiently varied patterns, a lot of bumps. -The scenario is not uninteresting. -Interesting ideas like bonuses granted according to the quality of the fight against the bumps, or the assistants to release. We finish the game by having barely profited from the last skills/magies acquired, and we realize that we could play a game in a totally different way. The game invites us by the way by unlocking another playable character. And yet, for my part, I would stick to that. What for? I don't know. This game is good, I took pleasure from the beginning to the end. I could certainly point out its relative ease (a little disappointed to knock out the final boss from the first attempt in hard mode). But that's not it. It's more intangible: I would have liked to have a cherry on this delicious cake. This is therefore very personal and does not remove anything from the high quality of the game. So I advise you the experience.

A game as demanding as taking! (and that will make you forget many other game of the same genre...!) Here you are facing a metroidvania, closer however to the first Metroid because here it is up to you to know where to go/search/return. So yes, good memory required. And it will be my reproach to do for this game: the map is clearly poorly defined: between the areas that resemble each other (here is the old school concept: "I change the color of the places and the Persos, and you see only the fire") and the fact that we can not con the map only by sector (never as a whole!) ended up being quite penalising, especially if you do not play every day... My other reproach will come from the gameplay, rather rigid. Far from being very annoying, it can be stupidly twitching with its system of "dash to reload" (the countdown after a boss in particular will have me moved... particularly:)) Another important but more general point about the current action RPG: the impossibility to copy/move its backup in the game... I would have avoided a few repetiies.. So, Yes, the game has flaws: you can get lost, sometimes proves badly finished (it has already freezed several times... and boss I love! lol) a rigid gameplay (even if it suits the thread of the game!) and a difficulty soaring if, willingly/unwillingly, you skip steps... many reasons why the game can sometimes be (very) poorly noted. That said, he also possesses all the qualities he needs to make it a very nice game experience: beautiful and technically light (a simple computer is enough!), long and rich (count 20h the game on average, with a lot of exploration.) nervous gameplay, offering a lot (too?) variants in terms of level up, and having a tasty OST (no purchase available... a pity!) Note that if the game is not in French, it is very fortunately. I recommend it, but especially to those who already know the genre, in search of challenge, PEP's, a serious universe and especially that will have time to devote to him. On the other hand, for those who discover the genre, prefer games like Momodora, shorter; and much clearer map level. It is sometimes found close to 3 euros, a bargain for this price!
