I have to break a Lance for this Game, because the negative Reviews here are, in my Opinion, grossly exaggerated. In total, I have now played Elite About 58h, as I used the Game outside of Steam Before. Sure, Elite hasn't got off to a good start. I bought myself for Release and was initially really excited about the Look and sensational "flight-sim" feel of the Ships. But there were some Problems: 1. The Missions were not worthwhile. 2. Trade was opaque and you don't actually make any Money. 3. Exploring Space made little Sense with the Beginner Ships. 4. It all felt so lifeless. -> Only bounty Hunting paid off. But that was too little Motivation for me. I therefore let the Game lie down a good Year. A lot has happened since then. When I Restarted 4 Weeks ago, I was able to see that some Things have been greatly improved. The Missions are now also worthwhile For Beginners. As a result, you can get around a little bit in Space and equip your Ship quite well. It has now also become much easier to find the Quest Targets. You also have more of the Feeling of being part of a larger Whole. Everything seems much more lively and no longer so boring for me. Overall, there is simply more Variety. However, the Trade is not really worth it for Beginners, as you simply don't have a large Cargo space available. By the way, the "Wow" factor still exists with me. Sure, the Stations where you land vary only minimally, but still I can't see myself fed up with it. And when you fly a Dogfight In an Asteroid Belt, it just feels great. The art design and Feel of the Spaceships is simply World-class. Elite Simply has a huge Quality that does not lose its Fascination. This actually knocks me over every Night:-) A lot is written here about the "Grinding." Yes Elite is quite a Grindmachine. Actually, I don't like Games like that. But if you go bounty Hunting In this Game, it's still Fun even after 1000 Fights. Simply because the Dogfights and Flying feel so good in themselves. You can actually target certain Enemy systems and specifically destroy them! However, this also hits you: Recently, my Pulpit was destroyed. I had 5 Minutes of Oxygen for the Return flight to the Rescuing station. The garnished by the sudden Vacuum medal of the Universe, my Breathing Sounds in the Game and constant Warning message was just super exciting. I managed to dock with 8 Seconds remaining time. What an Experience! :-) Upgrading your own Spacecraft is, of course, the Driver at all. I enjoy trying new Weapon Constellations and the like. If you are Afraid of getting started with a complicated start, Anyone who is reasonably intelligent can get the Mechanics in the Game. If you have played the Tutorial Missions, then you are actually ready to scout through space. You also don't get shot down or destroyed right away and something like that. The Rest then comes all by itself. I'm still learning about it and I like that about the Game as well. You have the Feeling that you can find out something new even after 50h+. Clearly also a Look at the Forum sometimes helps. In Summary, I would like to list: Positive:-Gigantic Space-World Class Art Design-Super Flight Feel-Fights Are Fun-Great Damage Model (Even the Discs of the Ships can be destroyed)-You don't learn from-Epic Feeling-Interesting Weapons And Modules-Many Ships to Choose From-Constant Updates and Improvements Neutral-MANY Repetitions that don't get too boring due to the Art design-DLC Politics you have to invest about 20 Euros extra every Year, but then also gets interesting Additives- Entry Barrier Negativ-Some Features are still illogical-Multiplayer part basically funics but there is still a lack of basic Functions. The Game is currently very good alone game bar. Conclusion: If You have been willing to invest for the Tutorials for 60 Minutes and have Bock on an OpenWorld Game in Space, then this Game is the right one for you. The Grind is far from as bad as described. Variety is plentiful, the Game can be really addictive. :-) By the Way, you can still buy the Horizon DLC LATER, Elite only loosely enough to Get started. Strike! :-)

This game is really cool, I’ve spent lots of time with it. Pros: - immersive - lots to explore - trading, fighting, mining systems work fine - ships are cool - tons of various missions to your taste Cons: - nothing to do with your friends, although the game is sold like an MMO experience. No coop, almost no PVE, no escorts or some other things you expect to find in a multiplayer game Don’t buy it if you dig multiplayer. Single player is great, so I’d definitely recommend it.
