The game is relatively interesting to play the first time through but it encourages you to do a second playthrough (there's a hidden/new ending) and it's just boring.
However I think the game is good to play at least once if you're struggling with depression/grief because it has a good message on not letting your fears get to you/being able to keep moving forward. Other than that, you can give this a skip and play Mad Father or The Witch's House instead.

The Crooked Man is a horror and mystery game created mainly with RPG Maker. The game in its entirety can last from 3 to 5 hours, so it is a short game, but full of meaning. The title of the game is due to an old rhyme whose name is the same, the Crooked man.
The game puts you in the shoes of David Hoover, an adult who has just moved to a cheap apartment. David has enough problems in his life: His love has abandoned him, his mother is in the hospital, etc. The game starts here, when this guy starts to explore his apartment and starts to discover something about his former resident.
While the game is somewhat short (as I mentioned earlier), I think it is a gem in the genre of terror. Uri knows very well how to make a game of this style.
Next I want to explain a little each feature of the game:-History: I will Not investigate much to not make spoilers, but in the course of the game visits several places. These places are meaningful to the protagonist and the story around him. David will find pieces of sheets from a notebook written by a person who will be telling his way through these places and how he felt to be there, details that provide rich content to places and history itself. It Is An original story, and I have noticed that Uri plays a little with the stream of consciousness (it tells us what happens in the mind of David himself, coming to see many of his memories). It Is A story of terror and mystery that fills me much more than other games.
-Graphics: We Can See some scenes drawn in the game, which gives more detail to the characters and gives it more charisma. Other than that, we can see that we have graphics of a game made by the RPG Maker, which does not affect at all the suspense and uncertainty when we are exploring and discover things that maybe... It would have been better not to see.
-Music: The Crooked Man has some musical tracks, and several are remixes of different works. For example, one that I like a lot is a variant of the beginning of Danse Macabre. Mostly we hear a lot of piano in the game, and in several points the music takes fast and frantic tones. A good soundtrack for a good game of terror.
-Gameplay: I don't know what to put Here. Controlling David is simple: with the Z you examine, you speak,... You do all the possible actions. With the X you enter the menu, where you can see the life of David, the objects it takes, the game settings... Besides that it allows you to save wherever and whenever you want (except, obviously, at certain times).
I consider myself demanding in terms of the theme of Horror and mystery, and when I met the saga of the Strange Men, being The Crooked Man His first part, I was amazed. It Is A game of terror well done, with its explanations, its touches of fear (there is some image that comes out of suddenly as if it were a screamer but there are no strong sounds to give an easy scare, which I admire because I hate screamers), and several unforgettable moments. I Played these games before having them on Steam and I can say that of all, this is one of my favorites. Explains a story, tells you the reason for many things that we will be posing as we move forward; David, the protagonist, has personality, and the puzzles are pretty well done. Rejugándolo only got stuck me about 20 minutes in one part of the hospital and it was because I remembered a clue that gave me a book, so you have to read carefully so that you remember the small details (which are not many).
On the other hand, for those who are not very fluent in English, some words may not be known, but with a dictionary or a translator is no problem (the first time I played this was in high school and I had little doubt). It'S a game with an easy vocabulary with some loose palabrilla to look for. Another thing I should mention is that there are some achievements that can only be achieved in the first game, so I advise that akeep in several points if you want to catch them later.
Do i Recommend The Crooked Man? Completely. Over costing 3 euros, I find it a marvel that every lover of terror and mystery should try. It Is A game barely known, but very good. Although it has little duration, it has a history that will give you to think and in the second game you will see scenes that will give you more details about the characters. Delve into the life of David Hoover, discover the truth about his apartment, and have fun while you remember in your head The Crooked Man = D.
