Super Mario Land (1989) is a simple but incredibly fun classic on the Game Boy. The game is fast, charming, and full of creative levels, making it feel fresh even today. Short, sweet, and very addictive—an absolute classic Mario experience.
Gameplay is kinda weak with the collisions being WAY off, the music is absolutely amazing other than the kind of weird star theme, and the visuals are debatable since I played the DX romhack which resprites everything and that looks really great, the original visuals are a miss for me.
Short and sweet Mario Land is less than an hour. It doesn't reinvent the formula but what it lacks in length and originality it makes up for in soundtrack. 7/10
For a handheld game in 1989, I guess this is a decent attempt. However, the green and black blurred Gameboy graphics are legitimately nauseating. I couldn't play this for more than like 5 minutes.
