About

“ALEA JACTA EST” (The Die is Cast) is what Caesar said as he crossed the Rubicon River when he learned that the Senate had removed him from his command. Crossing that small Italian river was equivalent to disobeying Rome’s orders and entering into open rebellion.

The great confrontation with Pompey was about to begin… One of them would become the Master of Rome, and the other would die…

Alea Jacta Est is the first historical strategy game on the PC to cover the main Roman civil wars, created by a dedicated team of experts to bring the epic battles that pitted Romans against Romans in conflicts such as those between Rome, Sertorius, and Mithridates.

With an incredible level of rich historical detail and historical accuracy, it is one of the few strategy games where the player must face the real dilemmas and challenges of the Romans during the time. Not only must you build and train armies, maneuver them and engage the enemy, but you must also maintain an economic and diplomatic balance with your neighbors.

Using the successful and famous AGE engine, Alea Jacta Est covers the whole of Europe, Northern Africa, and part of Eastern Europe, part of more than 2,800 regions, complete with cities, roads, fortifications, weather types, tribes and kingdoms of the time of the scenario. Featuring 5 campaigns from 87 BC to 197 AD, hundreds of historical leaders, units and events, Alea Jacta Est is a must-have for any grand strategy fan.Features

Alea Jacta Est reviews and comments

"Alea Jacta Est-Roman Civil Wars" from AGEOD deals, as the Name suggests, with the Roman Empire and here in particular with the Roman Civil Wars. It's a Strategy game in which it's all about tactically wisely shifting its Armies, taking strategic Points. Removed comparable to Chess. Anyone looking for tactical Battles ala "Total War" is definitely wrong here. This Type of play is aimed at Strategists who like to think about each Turn five times and place great Emphasis on Details. The Basic Game presented here provides five Scenarios (+ a Tutorial Scenario): 1. Marius vs. Sulla 2. The Great Mithridatic War 3. The Roman Civil War (Caesar vs. Pompey) 4. The Four-imperial Year 5th Septimus Severius The Game runs in Rounds, with one Round equalling 30 Days. Here you can move your Armies, raise new Troops, make political Decisions (depending on the Scenario, different, such as setting up a Slave Legion) and propagate for your Cause. The System behind this is called WEGO. This means that all Players make their Moves at the same time and are calculated together at the End Of The lap. When two Armies meet, the Composition, Terrain, Weather, Commanders and Supply status and previously encountered tactical Alignment (E.g. defensive/offensive posture, Dodging, Ambush ect.pp) are crucial. Battles take place without spectacle and you only get the Result. Intervention is therefore not possible. The Graphics are fit for purpose. The Playing field encompasses most of the world known At the time. Again, the playable Part differs depending on the Scenario. Armies are depicted as a Kind Of Pawns. The Sound is limited to sporadic Music, and Sounds when shifting Armies and Fleets. Conclusion Anyone Who loves strategically demanding Games and also does not shy away From accepting a longer Evaluation phase will have his Pleasure Through "Alea Jacta Est." This is purely about the military Component of the Conflicts involved. If you want to expand your Empire, you should rather resort to paradox titles. Everyone else: Access! Ps.: I recommend playing the Tutorial Scenario and also around Reading the Manual you can't get around. In Addition, you can also watch some Let's Plays on Youtube (unfortunately so far only in English). German Language The Game is completely in German. Unfortunately, you can't adjust this through the Steam Client, but you have to do it manually in the Game Directory. Here's a Guide to Changing the Language: Open the file General.opt (open with Notepad), which can be found here: C:\Program Files (X86)\Steam\Steam\Steam\Apps\common\Alea Jacta Est\AJE\Settings Now make The following change in the File: 2. * * * General interface choices * * *//language (0: English; 1: Francais; 2: Espanol; 3: German) Language = 3 Then save everything and you can enjoy the Game completely in German.
