Early Access Review The AI is alarmingly weak. In Addition, there are gross technical Deficiencies. The Game I can only play in Window mode And even there it crashes again and again on Windows 8.1.

If it does not start (only mouse pointer + black screen), inside the game directory, you have to create a batch file (. bat) containing the command line "battlechessgok-Valles", then launch it (battlechessgok. bat) and especially not the "battlechessgok. exe" file.

Since 2018, this Game has been operating almost flawlessly. The Price is still a bit too high, but the Sale's recommended alternative to the old Battle Chess.
After 2 Years I give the Thumbs up. It took a long time for it to be operational. Hope it stays that way. The Engine is kept quite simple. Those who expect a proper Chess Program should rather resort to Fritz and Co. For in between, but especially for Beginners but recommended.
It has yet to be said that Multiplayer mode is still plummeting.

Early Access Review
I used to play this game as a kid when it first came out, around 1988. When I say this version I was really amused to get it. (well I did). Its really true to the original and with much better graphics.
However on Windows 8 it crashes and lags on the audio. I noticed minimizing antialiasing or any other video effects did not change. Nor did did change it from one resolution to another. When I press the windows key on full screen I cannot get back in the game. And on windowed mode the audio stutters. I think it still needs more polishing.
I hope the developers launch a patch to fix this anoyances and then it will be an outstanding game.
