Conflict in Space

A top-down 2D shooter where the player takes control of a hover tank to fight the enemy faction. The objective is fairly simple,  wipe out all hostile tanks and factories on the planet surface and progress through all the levels to accumulate the highest score. And of course, try and stay alive!

Story

It is the year 2165, and a great deal of conflict has arisen between the major factions of Earth  to secure rare fuel deposits found in some of the planets of our solar system.

By utilizing the abundant energy release of the fuel, new military technology has been deployed in space suited for altered planetary environments, the hover tank being a notable success able to navigate the rocky terrain and equip deadly cannons…

You take the role of Hawk Simmons who has  put away his potentially glamorous future in pod racing and turned towards mercenary duty in service of one the many factions wrestling for control over the planets nearby Earth. 

Game Features

• Fast paced bullet-hell gameplay with short range encounters against enemy tanks and turrets. Player must dodge incoming fire as well as aim at incoming enemies.
• Player can switch between weapons depending on the situation with each weapon having unique characteristics such as splash damage or rapid fire.
• Explore 4 different maps and take advantage of choke points and obstacles to take cover from enemy fire. Each level has a natural progression in difficulty.
• Player must manage ammunition count and weapon heat when firing weapons as well as overall health of the tank.

Controls

Keyboard:

• W - move up
• A - move left
• S - move down
• D – move right
• ESC – Pause game and show instructions on how to play the game
• Number keys – select weapon directly
• Shift key – press at the same time as number keys to select multiple weapons

Mouse:

• Mouse cursor – player tank turns to face the cursor
• Left mouse button – fire tank gun
• Right mouse button – switch to next weapon

Install instructions

Unzip the download and open the file "Alpha Build". Run the executable Alpha Build.exe" by double clicking it and choose an appropriate resolution and quality setting. Once the game settings have been configured, press "play" to play the game.
