Coquin

Inspired by Ben Milton's Knave and the collaborative spirit of the OSR/NSR RPG community, I wanted to publish a small zine of instructions that allowed players new to RPGs to 1) quickly make characters and 2) learn all the rules in a few minutes' time, so they can focus on exploration and role-play.

Coquin is my zine-friendly hack of Knave. It's a barebones ruleset for running OSR-style RPGs without classes. If you have a library of adventures, bestiaries, and spells, little or no conversion is needed to use them with Coquin. (With light adjustment, newer RPGs can work too!)

All you need to play are: a Game Master (GM), any number of players, a standard set of 7 gaming dice, some pencil & paper, this zine, and the adventure of your choice.
