About

‘Darkness Within’ is an adventure game series, inspired by the works of celebrated horror writer, H.P. Lovecraft. In this second instalment, ‘The Dark Lineage’, players once again take the role of police detective Howard Loreid, a man tormented by the paranormal happenings around him, in the first volume ‘In Pursuit of Loath Nolder’. Now, Howard discovers that his own terrible past has some connection to the madness that is about to swallow him, yet again.

The Dark Lineage will take you to places where the ‘things’ of the past still live, and all the memories that should be long forgotten are still recalled; including a sleepy, depressing town called Arkhamend, a Victorian mansion that conceals dark secrets, a dilapidated building hidden within forbidding, snow-clad woods and dim underground buildings and tunnels. The Dark Lineage is even more harrowing than the previous instalment, so prepare yourself for the descending darkness, this time will be your last...

Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage reviews and comments

Translated by
Microsoft from Russian
After passing the first part (my little review it can be read here) I came across the 2nd part. But, unfortunately, at the time she had a lot of negative reviews (although now it is better: mostly positive), which, in most, talked about the terrible technical side, so I was passing the sequel, because I did not want to spoil the impression of Original. But There was another sale, the price tag fell heavily and decided to buy it. Only recently decided to go through. Already ready was to the ball of the option, the bugs (or maybe bad story), but got a very good game. Immediately Note that this version of the release'S Cut, ie in this version there are differences from the original 2010 year. Why am I writing this? Since It is mainly in the network passing exactly version 2010. Although on Yutuba I found the passage of the version of the Direcore'S Cut. The Story of Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage-This is a direct continuation of the original, so that after passing the 1st part of the advise to sit right behind the sequel, so much to forget. The Plot is good, but I did not really roll (I will explain below), the atmosphere of horror is well handed (especially in the manor and in the house personally I was scary) and finally riddles! There are also lungs, which I decided with ease, and a few complex puzzles, which helped me to solve the passage. But There are some drawbacks to note: the Technical side. It's not as horrible as it used to be. Personally, I did not encounter bugs that influenced the plot. I have encountered only such bugs as "jumped to where the story is impossible, and you fail under the textures." I Assure, there are not so many of them, but why they have not been corrected yet-it is unclear. Also, the sequel worked very strangely on my knife. Yes, he's not that powerful, but pancake, Bioshock Infinite He's OK Vsproizvodil, and Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage-Medium. I still do not understand what the problem, so I had to schedule the effects to reduce, but it is not completely corrected. But! The Play was more or less comfortable. Gameplay, or rather, its some elements: A. (Nagging) Lantern kerosene and lantern modern. In most cases, you will use the first, because it is more convenient, and the location is not so dark. Yes, there is a modern lantern, which further shines (and you can get an Achachika if you find all the batteries to it), but it has a certain charge, which, in theory, can end, and illuminates it near worse... Karach, why did you add a flashlight with batteries-I do not understand. B. Evidence. In the first part, if you did not combine some clues, you simply could not advance on the story. It was cool: I felt like a detective. In the second part you can find clues... But they have no effect on the plot. You will still visit all locations without them. Why were they left in the sequel? Only The developers will answer this question. Penumbra. The Gemplay is now very much reminiscent of Penumbra. I Do not know how to explain it, but sometimes these similarities are conspicuous, because of this game resembles more survival horror, not a thriller, as it was in the 1st part, ie emphasis was placed on the gameplay, not on the plot. Plot. In The original climax was awesome (Howard-descendant of the Docheloveskoy race... Yes, out of context, it sounds ridiculous, but in the game believe it), ie there was some revelation. There is no such thing In the 2nd part. We already know this infu, we only try to tell in detail. Yes, it is very ljubytno, but it is not so interesting. What do we have in the end? Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage-a worthy sequel (but slightly worse) original. Personally, I got enough fun. I Recommend to buy!
