About

From PlayStation Studios and Bluepoint Games comes a remake of the PlayStation classic, Demon’s Souls. Entirely rebuilt from the ground up and masterfully enhanced, this remake introduces the horrors of a fog-laden, dark fantasy land to a whole new generation of gamers. Those who’ve faced its trials and tribulations before, can once again challenge the darkness in stunning visual quality and incredible performance.

In his quest for power, the 12th King of Boletaria, King Allant channelled the ancient Soul Arts, awakening a demon from the dawn of time itself, The Old One.
With the summoning of The Old One, a colorless fog swept across the land, unleashing nightmarish creatures that hungered for human souls. Those whose souls were stripped from them, lost their minds – left only with the desire to attack the sane that remained.

Now, Boletaria is cut off from the outside world, and the knights who dare penetrate the deep fog to free the land from its plight, are never seen again. As a lone warrior who has braved the baneful fog, you must face the hardest of challenges to earn the title “Slayer of Demons” and send The Old One back to its slumber.

Demon's Souls (2020) reviews and comments

One of the worst remakes ever, a remake that should be taken as a negative example of how you shouldn't do a remake of a game since it ruins the important parts of a souls related to the lore, namely the atmosphere, the art direction, the design of npcs and enemies, the setting, the sound etc...

blood borne is exceptional . every dark souls maybe exceptional this one is second of its kind the creator maid  and ist good game and if you  want to play all the original souls games i definitely recommended.
The opening cutscene was actually really cool. The graphics are fantastic. The gameplay feels slow which is partly because I was playing wo long before this which is much more fast paced.

I don’t like the souls games that force you to make it past some point before they let you level up. That’s not fun. I also am not sure how I feel about the lack of health flasks and how you get half health after dying until you get your souls back… we will see.

I’m about 15 hours in currently. Decided to do a pure strength build which I’ve never done in a souls game before. Big bonk as they say. Honestly it’s been too easy. I got the dragon smasher and it hits hard. I’m beating bosses first try.

The graphics and world and design really do look incredible. The gameplay hasn’t been as engaging as other souls games.

I think health flasks are a better way for souls games. I’ve had periods where I run out of health leaves and need to go farm which is annoying and I’ve also had stretched where I have ridiculous amount of health leaves. Like the equivalent of 40 health flasks so as long as I don’t get caught in a blender or fall off an edge (which I do often) then I can go forever.

This game is maybe even easier than bloodborne which also cruised through. I’m beating bosses mostly on the first try. A couple it took 2 tries.

The boss fights honestly kind of stink compared to other souls games. Too easy and too many are just gimmicks.

Beat it. It ma definitely lowest on the fromsoftware scale. And I get its blueprint so it’s kind of different but still. It looked amazing. It was still fun. Just the gameplay and challenge was a bit simpler and that took a bit away from the experience.

Final Score: B+

This game is incredible. The graphics are some of the best I've ever seen and the combat is meaty and challenging.
Only thing holding it back was its lack of clear descriptions of stats and other elements you had to Google.

Overall a 9.5/10.

Bluepoint did a great job in bringing the game up to modern standards, while keeping what made the original game great intact.
Demon's Souls on PS3 effectively started a new genre of video game. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I didn't get it. Games during that period were rarely difficult. The industry was broadening due to the success of games that broke through to the mainstream (e.g. Wii Sports, Call of Duty), and accessibility had to be part of your alchemy if you wanted to reach large audiences. Times have changed a little. Games aren't afraid to be hard. We owe Demon's Souls a lot of the credit for this. Demon's Souls came out of nowhere and dared you to turn it off, and even if you did, you still respected it. There was something so deliberate and fair in it's punishments that demanded respect.

So, that's what I remember then, but Bluepoint has shown me something new about this game. I knew the moment to moment gameplay was fine-tuned, but I didn't realize how perfectly paced the level progression was. Every new section tests your abilities in a new way. Every new area requires you to scrape at the walls of your comfort with the game mechanics until you find a new path. And that's when the magic lives.
«Time-tested»
True next-gen graphics, but has some lingering PS3 world design that makes this early From Software game be both excruciating and yet rewarding.

Hard as hell, but so good once you get through a certain hurdle.

Wow, Bluepoint really outdid themselves. This was an absolutely incredible game that has become one of my new favorites. It was an absolute pleasure to experience this for the first time on PS5. This was the first Souls game that I have completed, and now I am going to try my best to go back to the other games and finally play them!
