About

The second game from the series Gothic.
In the first game, people who inhabit a fantasy kingdom, lose the war to the orcs. To win, the king needs magical ore mined in local mines. The king decides to send to the mines everyone who is accused of any crime and create a magical Barrier around the mines so that no one can escape from the mines. However, Barrier surrounded a much larger area and the prisoners became masters inside the Barrier. Inside Barrier and beyond, there is a struggle for ore, power and the things necessary for life. In addition to the king, the magicians who built Barrier and various groups of convicts take part in the struggle. The hero of the first game is one of those who are sentenced to work in mines. He wants to become free, forced to carry out various assignments of the warring parties and seek a way out. He has to fight and solve other problems. The first game ends with the destruction of the Barrier. The second game begins two weeks after the end of the events of the first game. During the events, as it turned out, the hordes of magical creatures were awakened, this sets the plot of the second game.
Fights in the game are near and far. For each type of battle there is a weapon. Stock inventory allows you to store any number of everything. In addition to the "ordinary" weapons, magical spells operate. The game allows you to turn into different animals. Becoming an animal, you can act and even fight - there are battle regimes for such cases. The Gold edition includes Gothic II and the addition Night of the Raven.

Gothic II: Gold Edition reviews and comments

Gothic 2

«Classic Gothic», which has moved away from the dark and gray atmosphere of «Gothic 1» and has gone in the direction of a brown-green fantasy world. Sure you'll also die from two wolf bites, but the world is more friendly to you, since you're now «The Chosen One!» I enjoyed going back to the colony more in chapter two. It's where I finally felt at home. The city of «Khorinis» itself and its surroundings did not impress me.

Gothic 2 Night of the Raven.

Has the most connection to the first part. In fact, part of the old camp has migrated to «Jarkendar». Throughout the entire walkthrough, it felt like I was playing «Gothic 1». During all the running around in «Jarkendar», I realized that this is it. Because it doesn't have the creation of that hero image that was thrust upon it in the main plot of «Gothic 2», the «You're the Chosen One»! You're nobody and everybody's challenging you. Just like it was in «Gothic 1». The atmosphere, music and design of «Jarkendar» is immersive and personally reminds me of the beginnings of «Gothic 3», more specifically the kingdom of «Myrtana».

I advise you to go through «G2» first, and after «G2 NotR». You won't regret it.

«Constantly dying and enjoy it»

Gothic II The Night of The Raven Forwort: Gothic II is now more than 15 Years old, so why resort to such a Game? Why write a Review when most Of the Connoisseurs and Lovers of the Series are already found? Quite simply, Because it's still a great Role-playing Game and many Players (especially younger ones) have never heard of this Universe. To start with: The Game is something very special in Terms of Atmosphere, Realism and the Feeling of playing that you have when you roam through Myrtana or their Islands. Technology: Although Gothic II has been under its belt for 15 Years and the Game is not from any Developer who achieves Millions or even Billions in Sales, it is still well and smoothly playable today (thanks to Mods). The Graphics are coherent and for a great Lover of the Gothic series like me, it is timeless and I feel comfortable! The Sounds and Soundtracks leave nothing to be desired, it's not an epic Music like you find at Skyrim or The Witcher, more of an atmospheric Companion on the Journey. In doing so, the Game manages to calm down, frighten or simply convey a good Mood in Some Places. Sounds weird, but is so. Gameplay: Basically, Gothic II The Night of Ravens plays like almost any other Western Role-playing Game. We control our Character through the Virtual Worlds using the Mouse and Keyboard, with the fights coming across tactically rather than action-heavy. We can only target a single Enemy and injure it with our Weapon, which from today's Point of view can frustrate, annoy or even bore. But Once you get used to it and realize what the Combat System allows each Individual, then it can actually play along above. Each Opponent has different Attack Patterns, which can be parried with your own Skilful Hbs and set to Counterpunch. Different with the countless Animals and Monsters. With these evil Journeymen, you should think about a good Tactic and strike and dodge it in a targeted way. Example: The Shadow Runner Straight at the Beginning of the Game, this Monster of a Wolf-like animal is unfathom, unless you know how to deal with it. In this Case, it is advisable to push the Animal against a Wall while running with the Weapon and keep Combinations at Bay with even left-right Combinations. Away from the "special" Combat System, we do Quests for different NPCs, where we often have multiple Exit options. We join one of 3 different Guilds and Add a lot more Depth and Specialization to our Character. The Character Development is left to everyone, you can almost skilli in any Direction. Whether you're a typical Hunter with Bow and One-handed Sword, or taking the Path of a Battle Magician, perhaps a brutal Warrior with nothing else in Mind but his Axe or the mighty Two-handed Sword? Or whether one builds a Hybrid, which is partly specialized in Long-distance combat, Magic and Sword combat At the same time. Story: Dour STORY By Gothic II connects directly to the End of Gothic, which again allows us to take on the Role of the Nameless Hero. Unfortunately, you have to say here that the Story is not completely thought through, there are more often things that overlap and are told like this sometimes and sometimes-probably because you hadn't expected a second Part. Nevertheless, Gothic II offers us a great Story about Dragons and a lost Realm at The other End of Khorinis, which brings with it one or the other surprising Twist ... On The whole, the Story is great and coherent, but not as mysterious, mysterious and dark as in the first Gothic. However, Gothic II is characterized by something completely different ... What'S Special: Whether Gothic, Gothic II or Gothic 3-The Atmosphere and Interaction with the Characters is unique and I've rarely experienced such an authentic Game world. It is rough, nothing is given to you and around it are the great NPCs that pursue their Daily Work and almost everyone has their own Kind of Opinion. It just feels realistic to dive into this World. Plus, there are incredibly fun and Well-hidden things and places for explorers and Easteregg collectors to find. Verdict: Gothic II & The Night of the Raven should every Role-playing fan have tried once, there are few Games of comparable Quality and Quantity. You have to deal with the Combat System in order to really master it and trick the different Enemies. In Addition, there is a Level Of Difficulty that should not be underestimated. If you want to master it without Cheats, you will often have to save and take everything with YOU on EXP and Objects as far as possible! Clear Buy recommendation-> Even after 15 Years!
