Gravity Rush 2 reviews and comments

While the scope of Gravity Rush 2 is much bigger, it's flaws have grown too.
Dozens of new characters and environments while impressive, were never fully utilized and the worlds never fleshed out. Painful stealth missions were added that bring the fun to a halt, and all too often the game doesn't trust you as a player.
If you go out of bounds during certain story missions you will get teleported back to where you're supposed to be. If you're spotted during a stealth mission, it's almost always instant failure. If you try to get invested into this story, the game will certainly disappoint you.
The camera of the original was sometimes hard to control but you were often fighting 5 or so enemies at a time. In the sequel it would amp it up with 20 or so enemies on screen at a time. With the new lunar style, every time you kick an enemy, the camera would jerk around. Simply shifting onto walls became a problem. In tight spaces the camera would often get caught on architecture and spaz out.
The original Gravity Rush is one of my favorite games of all time. While I understand people's issues with the repetitive combat and awkward camera, I found the main focus on Kat's story as an outsider in Heksville to be delightful. Trying to recover her memory in a city she didn't understand while meeting interesting characters along the way.
Gravity Rush 2 is simply unfocused and ridiculous, I hate this game

Haiku Review: Gravity kick foe / Groan as you go flying by / No lock-on? Why? WHY?
Favorite Thing: Raven. Definitely Raven.
Least Favorite Thing: I don't remember hating the controls so much in the first one but oh boy did I hate them this time around. Fighting is extremely frustrating, almost as frustrating as the lack of a lock-on mechanic.

Date Completed: 2018-08-16
Playtime: ~ 20h
Enjoyment: 5/10 (Dragged way down by those terrible controls)
Recommendation: Only if you're invested in the story or characters from the first Gravity Rush.
