Admittedly, Football is not necessarily a Passion of mine – to be honest I am in World Cup fever every 4 Years and then it is already good again. Despite my Desires in normal Life, however, I can get excited about Football as the Basis of a Game and if it's also a Simulation, I'm 100% into it.
Unfortunately, as the Game is self-appreciatively called itself, "Lord of Football" can't really convince at any Point. The Basic Idea of the Game would have been idiot-proof. On the one hand, Football is, above all, THE sport par excellence and, on the other hand, Managerial Activities offer a Wealth of Tasks ... Unfortunately, however, it is precisely the Managerial Activity that is so unsatisfactory that it rips the Game into the Depths of the 0815 average games of recent Years.
But now we go into the Game in a bit more detail. What is our Job? Actually quite simple, we train a Football Team and take care of their Nöte/addictions on the side and attend a Football Game every day. While I still find the Training Mode quite okay, the Addictions in particular go against the Grain after some Time. Our Players can develop different Dependencies (which they do regularly). So Alcohol, Sex, Food, gambling etc can quickly become a Problem for the Protégé. What is problematic, however, is that the Things that make players dependent are the only Things players can do away from the Training Field – so you can't actively avoid players becoming NOT addicted.
The Course of the Game is as follows. We start our Day with Training, then the Free time comes and when the Day ends and the new Day starts, there is a Game against another Club. The daily Routine is also okay at first Glance, but the Day is around so quickly that you have to send yourself quite a bit until you have assigned all the players to the – for them – right Training (sometimes half The training Day is already around).
When the Training Day is over and also the Free time "survived," it goes to the Game. You can either simulate the Game (which is almost always associated with a big Disadvantage for your own Team) or you can live in the Game yourself. Here the Creators thought it would be nice if you could get a little more active in the Action than just watching and made it possible to give the Crew smaller Commands. However, These Commands are so useless that in the End you can just look doof at the Screen.
Only the Possibilities to make his Team relatively free is to emphasize positively. Since you can choose the Logo, Name and Colors of the Team freely.
FAZIT: Football offers many Possibilities to be successfully adapted as a Game ... "Football God – Lord of Football" only unfortunately does not benefit any of these Possibilities (or more than half-hearted). I can't recommend the Game. It has slight Parallels to "The Movies," but with far fewer Possibilities and Innovations.
