About

Nightmare Boy is a metroidvania style, action/adventure 2D game.
It takes place in a diverse world, full of enemies from your worst Nightmares!
In your quest to save the Noctum from a self-proclaimed ruler, you'll meet weird and unique friends and foes. But tread carefully when talking or interacting with NPCs: Quirky characters and their reactions can have game-changing consequences. Fast reflexes and a taste for exploration are key if you intend to collect rare items, vanquish enemies, and eventually face your deepest fears.

This story takes place in Donorok, in the state of Noctum. After the King of Noctum, Aster, disappears, chaos rules over the world. The relationships between Monsters, Mongos and Dreamers are completely unstable, and Donorok - the land so heavily affected by the chaos - slowly absorbs terrain from the surrounding regions.

Balder has taken over and has ordered the monsters to retain any child who falls into the Nightmare. The key to continuing his rule is with the Nightmare Boy, Billy.

A colorful palette and an aesthetic straight out of your worst Nightmare! Main character animations are made up of over 500 drawings. Each level has its own unique enemies and atmosphere.

  • Character control is responsive and dynamic. As you progress through the story you will discover new abilities such as double jump, triple jump and hanging on walls. Powerful spells, explosives, and friends along the way will aid you in untraveled paths.
  • As the player exploring every corner that forms the Nightmare World, you will slowly complete your map.
  • There are many collectibles throughout the World that will decide which of the different endings the story concludes with.
  • Characters on your journey will offer advice, but it's up to you to take it - or not!

Each scene has its own musical composition and atmosphere. This provides an immersive experience and truly surrounds the player in the Nightmare World. This has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of Vic Hernand.

Nightmare Boy started out as a way of learning programming and game development. We’ve ended up making a game we have loved to play. We’re an Indie team of just 2 people: Mr. Garcai and Víctor Ávila. All graphical assets are credited to Mr. Garcai - illustration, design, scenarios, etc. He’s the creative mind in the team. Víctor takes the programming, development, animation integration…and puts all of Garcai creations to work!

Nightmare Boy reviews and comments

Nightmare Boy is, really, a pretty good metroidvania, with little things here and there that could be improved, like the map or the camera at certain times, but that together it looks pretty good. The feeling of Plataformeo and fight against the enemies is very successful and is satisfactory, which is not easy to achieve. The final bosses are tremendous and guarantee some intense combat to the extreme. It is Also replayable and ending it in difficult poses a considerable challenge. To see a bit of gameplay, I uploaded a few videos to YouTube: https://youtu.be/BgERghKOIxo?list=PLxNs4DejeMPXa4jbrMye645tzH393JMzc

First videogame of the Spanish developer The Vanir Project and often juegazo have been pulled out of the sleeve. A metroidvania with great challenges, design of scenarios, characters, music, sounds, etc very but very good. Really the music that is playing at each level is great. If you put it in normal or difficult difficulty you will suffer and despair, if you do it in easy the challenge is more affordable but still die several times. The price you have is totally recommended and if you see on offer on sale there is not to think about buying it, you will love. I'm glad I gave it a try, I recommend it to 100%.

The Estétita of this game seems very interesting, in the layout of each drawing seems to have taken care of every detail, and winks to other references are fun. In Addition, the music accompanies and perfectly describes the action and ambience of each stage. It Is a game in which you have to devise your plan and be careful with the answers you give;) There Are Several degrees of difficulty for the less skilled in command and the passage from normal to easy is appreciated. One of the things that is calling my attention is the story, not so obvious, of the children we are rescuing and could well be nightmares of real children. Fully recommended, I hope the end is as good as it promises, I'll tell you.

Product received for free Nightmare Boy is a game with lights and shadows. The Boys of The Vanir Project are premiered with a very clean title and surely the most given to this type of adventure can enjoy, but surely they are very half in different aspects. Topics such as combat, Plataformeo or exploration can be improved... But aspects like its history, its ambience, the BSO or the design of its final bosses are really good. He Is a metroidvania who dares to move away from the lap of Dark Souls and all his offspring soulslike bringing his things to the genre without going wrong. For our part we can only wish luck to this team and wait attentively for their upcoming projects. Here I leave a video analysis I've done trying to do as summarized and enjoyable as possible ^^ hope you like it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjTWhRtzkY8&t = If on the contrary You want a more complete analysis take a look at the text in GameIt: https://www.gameit.es/nightmare-boy-analisis-pc/a greeting and a hug ti@s!
