About

Parkan: the Imperial ChroniclesLegendary fantastic universe of the 90-s is back!
Parkan is a really massive game where players can travel through the randomly-generated star systems and build their own path in the universe.
Year 4097 since the foundation of the Lentis colony in some forsaken corner of the Galaxy. You are the pilot of the imperial starship “Parkan”, assigned to the Argus patrol base, that at the moment drifts helplessly on the orbit of a strange and nameless sun. Your task is to find the explorer ship that disappeared somewhere in the sector of Lentis, find out what happened to it and bring it back to the base.
It won’t be an easy task: first you will have to repair the starship and provide it with fuel. Then you need to find new weapons and navigation systems and create a squadron of drone ships. While playing you’ll have to meet the aborigines of the far-away planets, fight local pirates, try yourself as merchant or mercenary, win space fights, colonize a distant planet and maybe even create your own clan. You have the goal but the way to reach it is totally up to you!
Features:
  • Legendary game from the Golden age of the Russian gaming industry now in digital distribution!
  • Hybrid gameplay, combining elements of space simulator, shooter, strategy and RPG.
  • Open world with endless possibilities: explore the outer space, colonize planets, negotiate with clans of robots, fight in space battles, fall aboard spaceships, and become mercenary, trader or pirate!

PARKAN: THE IMPERIAL CHRONICLES reviews and comments

Translated by
Microsoft from Russian
Parkan is one of the best games made in Russia in the 20th century. The Game is a regular space simulator, but with some interesting features: landing on the planets, boarding ships and colonization (capture of the planets). Of course, it all sounds much better than it actually is. So, boarding ships and landing on planets is not as exciting as it could be. It Looks like a bellhop shooter with pretty rudimentary capabilities. As a result of battles for the planet it can be colonized, ie the planet from this moment begins to belong to the player and can produce fuel (local money) and various weapons. To get the most out of the planet, it needs to be developed, and it must have sufficient development potential. Of Course, find a planet on which you can realize the full potential that represents the game is not so easy (if you are not going to fight with the clans), the more that the world is generated at the start of the game and Yandex you will not help in finding it. However, in the very first cluster in which the player is found, there is always an uninhabited planet in which you can build a maximum number of mines, which allow constant fuel in sufficient quantities. And for the production of weapons you will need plants that need organics-the most common resource on uninhabited planets, so you have to try to find acceptable. The Development of the planet in the game is also quite scarce. To Capture the planet you need to put in it 2 mechanogerm, which you will always be in abundance. Therefore, capturing the planet is a very simple matter. Then, provided that the planet has the necessary resources, you bring a cartridge for mines and 3 cartridges for plants-and everything, your planet is fully developed. Now you can harvest. The Truth is, in theory, you have to sweat looking for these cartridges and, as I recall, it was when I first played this game about 20 years ago. But in this passage I found everything quite quickly and the planet grew instantly-boring. It is Clear that if there is a desire to develop many planets, it is not so easy. Indeed, you will have to try to find a lot of cartridges. But The game is not stimulating. I had one planet with mines in the first sector, another with mines in the other and one I found with organics, where built plants. It was enough for me not to know the needs of fuel, and also to have drones in abundance (rockets and without it I had full). As a result, I didn't buy a drone for the whole game — I just didn't need it. And the drones themselves were needed, in fact, only in the red sector. By the Way, I did not visit two sectors-the game was not forced, but I did not experience my own needs. As for the plot, it is also quite simple, mundane and incomprehensible. It is Unclear because nothing is explained. We do something, then something happens and the bass is over. What, why and why is not clear. So, I have described a lot of minuses, but for what positive feedback? Because even if you have all these minuses in the game to play interesting. Why? I have no Idea-just interesting. Therefore, if you are not repelled by the graphics of 20 years ago, then try-perhaps you will enjoy this original game. In addition, there are not many decent games from Russian developers. And a few words about the technical part: running the game on the latest version of Windows 10 with all the current updates, I have not experienced any technical problem-even a single flight was not and everything "started" the first time. The Only problem was the management-it is sharpened on NumPad, which my keyboard does not have-had to remove the old and play on it, because it is impossible to change the control: for unclear me reason, this feature is disabled in Steam version.
