About

It might appear that every working day in the police for the main character, Alex, was no different from one another. There was nothing special.

"ShadowSide" is an Indie First-Person psychological Horror Exploration game.
In the middle Of the snowy province, Police Officer Alex Carter looks for the Right. But something is wrong. After an Accident, the Policeman awakens in another Truth. Is all that he is experiencing, all the Peculiarities, Irritations and Moments of Horror really or just a false Trace in his Head?
What immediately catches the Eye is the amazingly impressive Graphics. The Cry engine proves once again that it is the right Choice for atmospheric Titles. This Atmospheric shudder Is Supported by a successful Rich sound design. At first Glance, you hardly think you've ended up in an indie title from a very small Studio.
In particular, the Ambient design, the Structure of The Winter Landscapes, the Canyons, Villages and Caves is very Skilful, partly also playful in detail. A Lot of Effort was put into it here and with Success.
The Level Design itself, on the other hand, is not always convincing. When you come across invisible Walls at beautiful Canyons at once, it's quite disillusioning.
Even there's not really much to do. Usually you scaven through the Area until you get to a Closet or a Note, which we can then interact with By pressing F. A few Pseudo-decisions, Side tasks that you don't recognize as such at first, and Escape Passages only partially loosen up the Core of the Game, namely the Core of a Walking Simulator.
Although the Length with the 15 Chapters, which each last between ten and thirty Minutes, is not sufficient, it is quite appropriate for an indie title of this Genre.
So The basic Atmosphere is right. It becomes problematic when it comes to the Narrative Structure. There becomes hakely, disorderly and often also confusingly cryptic. I am aware That such a Seation should be irritating, precisely because of the psychological Orientation. But If you don't get the Chance to really deal with the Protagonists, because once again you don't know what happened at all, you become difficult.
The Cuts and Rhythm too often seem too arbitrary. Since ends in the middle of walking through a Forest suddenly just by fading off a Chapter or we are just shot down by a Hunter out of nowhere. Then we wake up in a completely different Setting and have to escape from a Warehouse. The Extent To which this is arranged chronologically can only be guessed. Narrative Strands break off and will not be resumed at the End.
With psychological Disorientation, of course, everything can be reasoned in some way, but "ShadowSide" is prevented by the fact that the Game really becomes an outstanding Title, which would have been actually possible through Graphics, Sound and Ambient Design.
