Shio
About
Who is the man under the mask? What is he doing in this world? What is he seeking? There are many questions, but only one way to find the answers. To truly understand this world, you must not simply follow the obvious path which lies before you. Try to find hidden rooms and discover this masked man’s past.
For most players, “Shio” is a fast pacing and extremely difficult platformer, but this is much more features in this game.
Work on “Shio” started when its creator , Liao Yi, was on university, in the spare time between study and homework, creator finished his “Shio’s” prototype and game was able to be showcased on 2014 IGF China (Independent Game Festival) Student Group.
On IGF China “Shio” met Coconut Island Games and its team: Deng Bu Ran (program), Ge Xuanqing (level design), Cai Baowei (level design), Li Lingyi (level design) and others. Original prototype of the game was polished into a beautiful and challenging platformer game.
- Original side-scrolling platform game:
Jumping from lantern to lantern has never been more challenging. The only enemy in “Shio” is the environment, and it’s out to stop you at any cost. - Meaningful game environments:
The game is divided into four chapters, each with its own mood and weather. Weather greatly affects the challenges that you will face. - All kinds of traps:
You will find many various traps and obstacles along your path. The key is to learn how each one works and to be familiar with them enough to successfully explore the world. - Background music:
What’s a game without music? Music is front and center in “Shio” with original music composed individually for each chapter. - Sad and mysterious story:
The main engine which drives you to continue challenging yourself and overcome obstacles in the world of “Shio” is the story of the masked man. Nobody knowns exactly what happened to him and why he insists on keeping silent.
For most players, “Shio” is a fast pacing and extremely difficult platformer, but this is much more features in this game.

Product received for free a puzzle and course game in the world of ninjas and martial arts, here is: Shio.
I was able to test this game because I received it for free by the creator of the game. I thank him again because thanks to him I can do this evaluation and fortunately I have the right to say good or evil. I intend to describe a maximum of the game. Have a pretty critical mind.
I. history: a very small story without more. I cannot judge the blow on this point, by that I find its pity that there is no more history than that.
II. gameplay: the gameplay is breathtaking by its interactivity. With easy-to-handle controls. I find it good that the game accepts the gamepad for the console regulars. The game is only solo and not multiplayer. It might be nice to do some sort of multiplayer mode with a race course with obstacles to make.
III. Design: beautiful sleek design with half-realistic mid-cartoon graphics of very good quality. Hate to see what this can give later because I have not finished it. Passages quite complicated in terms of course to improve or make some kind of index box.
IV. quality price: 11.99 euros is a bit expensive I find for the game. Despite its a game to buy because is worth at least test. If you are known somewhere ask for it to have it free.
Finally: I recommend this game!

Product received for free on paper, Shio was made for me: die and retry, plate former, hard. I start the game of stars in the eyes and salt to heal my eventual wounds. But I bumped into a wall.
Let's talk quickly about the esthetism of the game: impeccable. It's pretty and made with talent. At the sound level, everything sticks, everything's fine. For a plateforming, the developers even thought of working a story. All that's left to do is play.
The gameplay of Shio is aerial: you unfold by bouncing on the lanterns to reach the continuation of the level. There will be saws, lasers, fireballs and so on. On the pain side, the game looks complete. But a concern will come soon enough to annoy you: after a first level with a checkpoint every 3 meters and a very slight difficulty, the game goes, dice level 2, you put a big finger of honor in your face.
In the platform plays one respects in General a certain progression in the difficulty, which advances in the latter. And here, this progression will be summed up as follows: from the country of the care bears to hell where Satan will sodomize you with a nailed bat and crushed glass.
This game annoyed me. I have speedrunné Super meat boy, 1001 spikes, shovel Knight. I find this game harder than I wanna be the boshy. Or I'm blocking this world 2 I don't know. I do not let go of the case yet, but this frustration reflects the lack of know-how of the developers.
+ This is joliie original aerial gameplay-frustrating difficulty as possible
