Sonic The Hedgehog 2 HD: The Lost Demo

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 HD (S2HD) is an ambitious fangame begun by a group of people who wanted to create a remake of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 with high definition (HD) graphics and remixed music while strictly preserving the original gameplay (which continues to set standards to this day). The scope of S2HD has increased since it's inception (originally intended as a straight vector redraw of the original shapes and colours), with artists and animators taking liberties with additional detail, animations, effects, and storytelling elements. S2HD then ceased production earlier that year, after one of the programmers, LOst entered a Keylogger into the game. But now, relive the magic of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 HD once again in this all new, 3rd demo! I was on the S2HD team as a developer and beta tester. We had planned to release a third demo, but never got the chance as the project shut down. Now, finally relive the third demo, rebuilt, recreated, and Keylogger free! It is still in development though, but we'll make sure to add to the Develog as soon as we can! Remember, this will hit early access soon! By the way, if you want to say "WHhen will the full game release!?" Or, "FINISH IT!! FINISH IT!!" Well, remember that it is STILL IN DEVELOPMENT, and not only that, but it is a lot of work. We are redrawing, reanimating, and rebuilding the abandoned and forgotten demo for your enjoyment once again! (P.S There's a way to get to Metropolis Zone in this version! Try figure out how!) We are proud to present the long-awaited release of Sonic 2 HD Demo 2.0.  Sonic and Tails are back! This time, in hand-drawn animation and stunning HD! Miles “Tails” Prower joins his best friend Sonic the Hedgehog in Demo 2.0. Speed through the world together as a team, or play as either Sonic or Tails and fly solo through West Side Island in stunning hand drawn HD.

Emerald Hill Zone (below)

This tropical paradise off the coast of West Side Island finds new life in the hand-drawn graphics and animations of Sonic 2 HD. Run across the grassy hills and underneath scenic waterfalls as you save all the animals trapped inside Badniks across the beachside landscape, all the nostalgia you remember, even more perfect, in Sonic 2 HD. Also, here's a challenge! Want to unlock secret, (and sometimes unfinished) levels, like Metropolis, Death Egg, and Casino Night? You can get to them by getting Debug Mode! Which you get by collecting ALL the rings in ACt 1, and 2 of Emerald Hill! Yes, ALL of them. Up for the challenge?

The iconic industrial facility is the newest zone available to play in Sonic 2 HD. Find your way through the various pipes and ducts of the plant as you speed across a vibrant, colorful, and nostalgic cityscape. You will need to be quick as platforms constantly shift and Badniks appear at every turn. Don’t get caught in the Mega Mack! From it's jumpy track beat, it's beautiful scenario, to the Sonic speed action, it's modern-retro! 

Hill Top Zone (below)

This rocky region is full of hiking paths and short cuts to explore, whether you’re scaling mountaintops by see-saw or plummeting deep into the dark caverns. Use vine ropeways to travel to unreachable places and take in the crisp cool air. You can blast through at Sonic speed, or explore and marvel at the newly hand drawn scenery! Though be warned: The terrain is volatile, and there’s no telling when earthquakes will strike next.

Built from the ground up for Sonic 2 HD, the SonicOrca engine recreates the feel of the original Sonic games and allows for modern features and functionality that were not possible in 1992. Utilizing modern graphics technologies, SonicOrca enables the high resolution visuals and overhauled interfaces seen throughout S2HD.
