Space Miners

The twenty-third century saw substantial  improvements in many science and technology driven fields. It also saw the biggest humanitarian crises; a complete depletion of all organic resource available on Earth, forcing humans out into the stars.

Not much time passed before a group of elites joined some space-stations together and began calling themselves Space Miners LLC, promising food, shelter, and a steady wage tracked in hours worked, to those who would take up the profession of mining and collecting any and all resources found floating around the deep recesses of the galaxy. Without much choice, millions of people began joining the ranks of the space miners, attempting to remake an honest living to support themselves and the ones they loved.

Despite giving people the essential resources for survival and work, Space Miners LLC began to see a rising trend in fatal work-related accidents, depression and suicide. Many outreach programs were tried, but none seemed to really help tackle the fact that people just did not feel like they had purpose, at least that was until the Miner League was formed. The creation of several competitions putting people head to head, testing their mettle with a promise to live the rest of their life with the elites in the Victus Arboretum.
