VERLIES II reviews and comments

"Settle II" is a classic dungeon crawler with randomly generated Levels and Permadeath. Mechanically, everything is reminiscent of old Times, as if you were on an Amiga. We start in a City that has several Screens in store. We have a Pub, a Dealer or a Blacksmith, for Example. In the Pub we can sleep and regenerate or win gold with a Roll Of The dice. At the Dealer we can act in a nousy way and have weapons manufactured During the Blacksmith. And we can enter the first Dungeon from here. There we move on Screen by Screen, meet enemies like Bats Snakes Or even times a Dragon. In Boxes, Baskets and Vases find Gold, Healing Potions or even sometimes equipment. The Dungeon Level is initially obscured. It is only by Exploring that the Structure on our Map becomes visible. Each Level has an Exit to a new Level of a new Dungeon. At this Point, we can always decide whether to go to town to regenerate or sell loot or enter the next Dungeon right away, giving us an XP boost. With skill points, we can improve quite a few Skills. The Fight against Opponents works quite simply. With the right Mouse button we attack, for Example, swing our Sword and with the left we raise our Shield, which partially protects us from enemy Attacks. The Game has some Equipment Such as Weapons, Shields, gloves, Armor and various other Stuff. Quite complex and as usual in this Genre, we can only equip Equipment if we have the necessary Level. If we Die, we can start all over again. Our first Character is a simple young Man. If we meet certain Requirements, we can unlock seven more Characters. The Game is structurally very old-school, which is also noticeable by the crisp Degree of Difficulty. You're going to die again and again. Especially because the Dungeon is always randomly generated, it also takes a good Dose of Luck to be truly successful and to get far. That will be frustrating for many Players, but Genre Savvy might just like the Challenge. If you can get into it, the Game can certainly develop Addictive Potential. Even though I could also notice this Addictive Effect myself, it became too exhausting and too repetetive for me after some Time. It must also be mentioned that the Game may well crash. Aesthetically, the game Solves the Problem of an obviously low Budget with an interesting comic-realistic Look that seems unusual but quite fitting. Rating: 6/10 Atmosphere 5/10 Story 6/10 Graphic 5/10 Sound 6/10 Game Mechanics 5/10 Balancing 6/10 gameplay conclusion: Only for frust-resistant Old-school dungeon Crawlers. 6/10 Overall Rating
