Worm (scoot.)

Chase down bugs and stop them from destroying the flowers! But watch out -if Worm bumps into its own tail, it's game over!

Created on and off in one month for the GitHub Game Off 2021 Game Jam - the theme for which was "bug".

Controls:

Movement:  WASD or ↑←↓→

Start game / pause / unpause: SPACE

Exit: Esc

Tips:

• Bugs can fly over Worm's head, try to time your movement right!
• Keep an eye on the 3 health bars - each one represents a different flower. At the moment there is no visual indication of damage on the flower itself. We hope to add this in a future update
• Going off the left or right edge of the screen will warp Worm to the opposite side, trying to go past the top or bottom edge will result in Worm changing direction to either left or right (depending on what direction it was going before turning to go up or down)

Known Bugs:

• Game-play
  • Sometimes, on pressing space to start the game, the game starts paused
  • On completion, pressing space doesn't restart game
• Visual
• On consuming a bug immediately after turning a corner, corner sprite doesn't show. New tail segment looks like it should after tail passes through the space it was originally spawned in
• On turning left or right after trying to go past the top or bottom edge, the tail sprites go a bit wonky
• Tail sprite doesn't always rotate to direction it should face after a turn
• On game reset (i.e., from moving into the snake's tail) the menu text "Unpause: SPACE" will be blurry 
• On successfully eating all 50 bugs, the finished screen will be blurry. The text reads: "Nest Defeated! Well done! Restart: SPACE, Exit Game: Esc"

Please note: We will endeavour to squash these bugs and add more polish to the game post-jam!
