Even though the story doesn’t quite measure up to the first part of the game, the graphics and gameplay more than make up for it. The world-building is incredibly well done and it never feels boring or linear, like just walking a straight path.
The game mechanics are also really engaging, especially the freedom to make your own path, use stealth, crafting, and so on. I also liked how the gameplay blends with interactive cutscenes, which keeps you immersed.
Showing both Ellie’s and Abby’s sides was a great decision. At first, you really hate Abby, but once you see things from her perspective, your feelings start to change, which I thought was powerful storytelling.
I wasn’t a big fan of the ending though—it was too sad. I really wish Joel hadn’t died.
