A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead review

This is a great premise for a game both mechanically and narratively. I love the movies and can't get enough lore on the Death Angels and the events. Sadly this game does little for fans of the films or games. The game is so slowly paced I have to imagine most people bail after 2 hours. The mechanics aren't good in the first place, putting so much emphasis on sensitivity in how you fast you move or open doors but the game does not handle it well. I had to raise the deadzone on the controller a lot just to get a happy medium and it was still a pain. The mechanics are also just broken at times. The AI will hone in on you due to random noise that isn't even in your direction. They also decided to use a type of radius pathing so that the DA is always near you with no set pattern. The intent is to make the game tense but this just causes frustration because of how janky and repetitive it is, often going back and forth right where you need to go. I had one clip through a door and get stuck in a wall instead of breaking the door. Later I had gotten pretty far ahead of one only to have it literally fast walking to catch up to me despite not knowing where I was. It's just an awful stealth game. The story is also just meh and not really worth the time.
