Heavy Bullets review
Exceptional
by charlie

It took me a while to come around to Heavy Bullets, but when I understood what was going on... wow. It's exceptional.

The principle is rather fun, we immediately think of eldritch as well for minimalism as for the mechanics of play. If we laugh by shooting the first monsters, the management of the bullets quickly becomes a real headache against the turrets as long as their Hitbox is difficult to access. The bugs are entinging the experience, I have regular micro jerks on my config (i5 & GT 640m) while the game is frankly light visually. Moreover, the management of the impacts is sometimes questionable at the level of the turrets with lasers that cross the walls... Horribly frustrating when you are already making so much effort to preserve the slightest heart. The lack of finish really spoils the pleasure in the medium term.

Dungeon crawler... Yes that we know... but Dungeon crawler FPS... Mmmh! (for lazy-the summary at the beginning) Summary: best quality/price, pretty colors/graphics, retro but not too (good compromise), original, difficult but simple grip, configuration of the keys possible (playable gamepad? I do not believe) and especially even if the music is little present the submertion is total! ... very good game very effective, beautifully colorful, interesting monsters with specific pattern and sounds that allow the differentiating. A lot of die & retry, learning patterns both at the level sections of levels and monsters, very jouissive and little stressful to what one might believe. Your first "run" will be (until your first clash of the final boss... no spoil) immersive, intense and so slow because you will make straffs (not sideways) out of the wall story to see what will you arrive... For finishing the game at 100%, Speedrun included (first video game Speedrun of my life... personally) the game itself is simple, easy to understand and repetitive (but not boring because everything is random.. I would come back afterwards) so it will appeal to old people who have played on Atari or Comodor and today's youth call of/counter Strike... see even the game hungry for retro style but not casual play.... because Yes playable mouse but still difficult (grip in 5 minutes Chrono on the other hand!!) The main and not negligible point is that the game generates randomly (but not at 100%) because each run will be unique, level pattern/monsters and bonuses/stations (medbay, Bank, etc.) will be more or less where you can expect them and may not be the same! so run harder than others! less negative however, the game can jerkoff this happens (pay attention to the options of the VSYNC genre to disable preferably) and above all can become frustrating as you have Murphy's law on your back! (principle of having the game against you: few bonuses, well placed monsters and/or an effective group of the turret genre hidden behind a Bush and a monster in front who invites you to kill him... and Pan! kill from behind X_X) last negative point and/or positive depending on who will play is the fact that the difficulty is not programmable... so you can have a disconcerting ease to make the first level in 45sec... as in 1.45 mins... because some monsters apparently only at the next level could get into the level and OH SURPRISE! ^^
