Valiant Hearts: The Great War review
Exceptional
by Sebastian

Exceptional (my 1-word review) maybe only for people who are interested in history such as me, as this is really an educational puzzle game in which you follow the interesting storyline depicting the events that the protagonists suffered in the first world war.

There are a few tough puzzles but once you know the game mechanics (e.g. you can break things, throw things, use your dog etc.) most are not hard to solve. The graphics are beautiful in their own way.

This game made me spend half an hour getting the last achievement which I wanted absolutely although usually I don't care much for achievements.

Very enjoyable gaming experience. Very nice OST also. If you like being completely immersed in the game surroundings, you will like this one.

Thanks to your review, I went deeper and read a bit about the game. Going to buy it soon, I love unconventional games about war.

Thank you for your comments. I think it is fair to say that Ubisoft put considerable effort in publishing that game and making it educational and enaging at the same time. I'd say they hit the right balance :)

This game is amazing. It is remarkable for its graphics of very good quality, but also worked at the level of script, documentation, music and sound effects. These are simple commands that will allow any player to immerse themselves in the horror of the First World War, says the "Great War" by following the moving adventure of 4 unknown soldiers, forgotten despite their exploits. I have personally played a lot of moving games, but this one surpasses them all. The only game I've been crying on, here it is. I have always been passionate about history, especially about the First World War. I must say that I immediately knew that this application will be a good reference, because a game generated by Ubisoft, Apocalypse and Mission Centenary can only be successful. Another pleasant thing; the game, unlike others, does not put forward a hatred towards certain countries. This game thus greatly contributes to the memory of all soldiers, regardless of their nationality, who have performed their duty, and who have, as some said, "enemies in life, in death together". This war is the beginning of a friendship called Europe, and we, whoever we are, are the transmitters and the memory of all these soldiers. Do not fall into oblivion, the one who kills all the heroes. thank you, Adrian.

I'm a big fan of games that put a lot of emphasis on the story. Unfortunately there are not many good examples in the mobile games segment, but Valiant Hearts is definitely one of them. The idea that the game is played from four different perspectives, which all have their own background story, is very well implemented. The horror of the First World War is very well brought here, which is mainly because the player quickly sympathizes with all characters and cheers. Incidentally, you will also see real photos and items including the appropriate explanation in the diary, with the items hidden in each level. Positive: The historical aspect is not imposed, but very well integrated into the game. Who wants to do without Valiant Hearts can play completely without this. Just before the end, there was a small damper of the game spa due to these "QuickTime Events", in which keys have to be pressed in a certain order. These are also in the game before, but they were never as unfair as there. The chronological order was in my view far too short and in case of an error must be started again right from the beginning. That was unnecessary. But that was the only negative aspect of this really great and instructive game. Gladly more of it!
:,( Lovely but sad story, totally recomended. The OST was ammazing too.
