Kingdom Come: Deliverance review
by OctopusGrift

I really loved the story of this game, but the gameplay was not super fun. The story overall was worthwhile, but I can understand why so many people were turned off of this.

There are tree thing that bother me about this game : first one is that  it have a lot of bugs especially in the ps5  i hope that in pc they are not that much bugs but for what i read they are .
Second  is the combat and the look pick is impressive and not stable ,some times not responsive , You are in a fight and the chase mechanics are active, your opponents' blows connect even if you are far away from them and your attacks are not in combat mode on some occasions even when they should

the third one is the liverties you have to complete a mission  they are not consistent some times are very some none some have clues  some non at the point of appear more bugs glitches errors that u take advantage of .

I'm recommending this game despite not really enjoying it. There are cool systems in place, and I really appreciate the attention to historical accuracy, but the combat system was very frustrating for me.  If you're into medieval stuff give this game a shot, but don't spend too much on it.
This game had me HOOKED. So much to do in it. My only recommendation is to look at the DLC before purchasing it. Most of them aren't worth it imo.. But the game itself is A1 steak sauce!
Favorite Thing: The good voice acting is really good. It puts the, much higher budget, FFVIII Remake to shame.
Least Favorite Thing: The combat. I really hate it. It's so janky and constantly feels like I'm fighting against the controls to get it to do anything.

Enjoyment: 5/10
Recommendation: After 8 hours it failed to hook me in the least so no.

So I have to make it clear from the outset that I have the KC: D Recommend because it is in itself a really very great Game with a super Combat System. But I'm probably going to talk here mainly about the Things that disappointed me ... Unfortunately, there are a number of things I have to say ... First of all, my personal Highlights: 1. Alchemy is really Fun here. Such an interactive Crafting I think is really mega good! Too bad it's only the case with Alchemy ... Because otherwise there is no Craft to learn. (One is the Son of a Blacksmith And Heinrich also describes himself as a Blacksmith in some Dialogues, but apart from Grinding, Cleaning and Bulging, he can do nothing ...) 2. Realistic ego perspective and Roleplay. So I imagine a First-person game of today. One consists not of floating Arms, but of an entire Body that uses the same Animations as the NPCs. Very nice! In addition, the Animations are really good, which leads to the next Highlight. Realistic Roleplay is Also a top priority. You have to eat, sleep and be careful not to overeat, poison, etc. Even reading is nicely done. 3. Realistic-looking fights 100%ally realistic are of course not the Fights (I maintain that this is not possible in Games), but as realistic as it is in such a Game. The Combat System is a lot of Fun, is front and high and looks very realistic. Combos and perfect Riposten end in Animations that look really perfect. And just realistic. So Much for the Highlights ... Well, what unfortunately disappointed me: After a little less than 63 Hours I got the Main Quest and most of the Side Quests through ... I tried to take as many Side Quests as possible with me ... It seems that most are anyway more or less connected to the Main Quest, so as Support ... They use what if you do them and from a certain Point of the Main Quest you can't do many more ... That's a shame. In the Meantime, there is hardly anything left to do. The last Pair of Quests I find are along the Lines of: Go get that, Over-talk People what certain to do, blah, blah, blah ... Boring... Meanwhile, I don't even meet any more real Opponents ... Every now and then I am stopped by an open-minded Bandit who attacks with nothing But a Cloth Shirt and a piece and falls over while looking at the wrong ... Well the Game doesn't seem to be designed to keep playing it after the Main Quest. The Main Quest ends the Game and you have to load a Score before the Epilogue (which the Game automatically creates). To the Story I can say the following (and I avoid Spoilers, don't Worry): It's very nice as long as it lasts, with good Plottwists and it's also credibly presented. However, I had the Feeling in the middle of being forced To quit ... In my Eyes, the Main Quest concludes with only a few Things ... So much remains open ... (Almost seems as if DLC were already planned to complete the Game ... Do You want To compete WITH EA?) That reminds me of the next Point. The Bugs ... While I haven't had any Game Flow Disruptive Bugs so far (apart from rare Crashes, 2 so far), what has bothered me the MOST is the SCHLAMPIGE insert the German Translation ... The Voice Actors are really great ... Unfortunately, sentence ends are often chopped off, in some Places the English Voice can suddenly be heard (once the German is spoken directly afterwards, while in the Animation the next Person talks, ghastly ...) and in the German Version many Sequences EXTREM LEISE! Without Subtitles sometimes goes nix ... This is really very sloppy in my Eyes ... I really would have expected more there ... The Game really seems like an Early Access in some Points or just how fast it went about clapping ... That's how combat Training Works, by the way. There is still much left unexplained that you have to read in Steam Guides ... Perfect Riposten is "explained," but not really ... They are shown, but you don't get explained how to trigger them ... All the "Clinching" mechanics also remain completely unexplained. Again: Sloppy. A wonderful Game, which at this Stage often seems like an Early Access title and really needs patches! In My Opinion, also one that continues the Story. If a story extension came out as a DLC, I would honestly be leavened ... I understand that a lot of Money and Work has gone into Development, but in some Respects it almost doesn't seem that way. I hope that will be improved. The same as the Defiance I recommend the Game because it is unique and also uniquely good. Even if this did not come across from my Criticism now.

I desperately wanted to like Kingdom Come: Deliverance since I first heard about it and what the developers were looking to achieve. A historically accurate RPG set in Bohemia in the early 15th Century. Having studied history most of my life it seemed to be a perfect fit. When I began to play it however it was missing one key ingredient many people play games for – enjoyment. The game starts off with a small tutorial section in your local village where you play the son of a blacksmith. Life is simple and you set off to gather some ingredients to help your father make a sword for a local nobleman. It is quaint and likeable but immediately you begin to encounter problems with the game itself. While there is guidance, it comes in the form of detailed full-screen pages that you have to read all of to understand how to eat, sleep and basically just exist in the world. While there is nothing wrong with this method, I found that the practicalities of doing this simply didn’t follow the instructions. One of the first things you had to do was go and collect some money owed to your father from a bad debtor. He was easily located but the conversation options led me to a fight. Amazingly for the first encounter in the game, this fistfight seemed to last 15 minutes as random punches, kicks and parries landed from both sides. After it was over, I was able to wash the blood off myself in a nearby bucket of water and go to the next stage of the task. This might be realistic and sound like fun in the game but in practice, this didn’t set a good impression on me. Firstly the fighting mechanics were awful. In a game like this I’m not expecting Fight Night levels of nuance but in Kingdom Come: Deliverance you pick an attacking direction and then just swing your limb in that direction. Even the town drunk was able to dodge or grab my attempts and hit me with a counter. The fight turned into a boring war of attrition that somehow I won. After something like this the first thing many people want to do is save it so they don’t have to go through the chore of it again. Saving in Kingdom Come: Deliverance is another misstep. Despite the recent patch that lets you save and exit the game at anytime the only other way to save is to drink the limited Saviour Schnapps drink or go to sleep. In the example of the fight, I just wanted to save immediately after then carry on my journey, hopefully never to repeat this section. Instead, as I hadn’t got the Save Schnapps yet I had to play on. It didn’t feel right to go for a sleep in the middle of the first fetch quest of the game. If I had died or ran into a bug in the game I would have had no choice but to do it all again. Luckily I was fine in the tutorial, but soon after this exact problem happened many times. Of course, the game soon takes a dark turn with the invasion of the village and tragic circumstances for your character. The next section of the game is thrilling and gave me genuine hope for the rest. You have to escape on horseback with soldiers in hot pursuit. After this great but clunky section, the game starts proper and unfortunately, it seems you have to do the tutorial section you needed earlier now. In this section, you are taught again about eating and given a basic quest scenario to teach you about the game. Unfortunately, the best solution to this scenario includes lockpicking. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance lockpicking is simply awful. Even after the latest patch, it can be almost impossibly fiddly for no apparent reason. Looking at forums it seems to be a console specific problem as PC can use a keyboard and mouse. With analogue sticks, any lock you pick is a complete fluke. Despite this, you only need to do it once and you can save before it with the newly acquired Schnapps. Despite this after sitting through the loading screens ten times while you do it begins to grate. Soon after the game seems to begin properly and you are given a fighting tutorial and of course a lockpicking one. Are they serious? Without ruining the plot you have had to do numerous instances of both before you are given the necessary tutorial to get through this. It is sloppy and sets a bad impression which nothing after serves to reverse. The game seems to take a perverse pleasure in making everything you do as boring and awkward as possible. I get the realism factor and that life in the middle ages wasn’t a bed of roses but this is a game and meant to be used as a form of escapism for people. It shows a lack of user-friendliness that is staggering. Having to eat to survive is a great mechanic if deployed well but being stranded in early game because of poor signposting with only a pretzel to eat just screams of a lack of playtesting. One section had me looting dead bodies for food early in the game which was a complete break in character. No matter how noble you tried to be you ran out of food on the journey to where these corpses were and are forced to scavenge. It just isn’t enjoyable. Despite my misgivings, this has been a sales success and is sitting at an inflated price online and in most stores. It is a great premise and has some good ideas but the core gameplay loop is one of underachievement and lack of fun. If you are looking for this kind of game you should only try The Witcher, it is much cheaper and much more polished. Unfortunately, the wait for this kind of game goes on.

Am a huge RPG fan, and this is one of the worst RPGs I’ve played in my life. The graphics for PS4 are not even close to the trailers. The load is unacceptably slow. The combat is clunky. The face animations and voice acting are nowhere close. I don’t even mention the terrible save system!
The other big problem is that they chose “realism” over fun in many aspects. It is the game where you will never achieve something great, you will never be a terrible fighter or a savior of the world (though I am tired of this cliche too). If you want to experience what to be a small and weak human, you can just go and try to attack a bunch of guys on the street with bare hands. Then you’ll get beaten and humiliated – there, it’s what Kingdome Come is all about.
The game’s superb and this is really the kind of the game we have all needed. The deep and thorough combat feels very fresh and smash button-mashers hard. You have to actually learn to fight. The environment and the world is beautiful, lots of attention to details. The historical verisimilitude deserves so much appreciation, I really felt like I was in the 13th century in Eastern Europe. I want more games like this in the future!
Without counting the bugs, the game is beyond of what i did expected. Even if its linear u can choose diferent paths of doing ur way in the game. If you like these open world RPG games, this one immerses you in a historical situation in the year 1403. im playing now more than 70 hours, and im still hooked.
