All Action GOTYs of 2018

Created Dec 6, 2018 by RAWG Editorial
We are making the extensive list of all action games in 2018 that deserve to be the GOTY in YOUR opinion. Submit games by clicking “Recommend a game” below. We will add any game to this list but here are some rules.

1. One game from one rawger.
2. Only games originally released in 2018 are accepted.
3. Only action games are accepted. Think Far Cry 5, Mega Man 11, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, etc.

And remember that any game can be a GOTY for you. ♥

Far Cry is back and now it is as far from Far Cry 2 as virtually possible. And it's one of the best FPSs of the current generation! Ubisoft is refining its open-world skills with each entry and the latest Far Cry is the most player-driven game in the series with tons of interconnected systems. Also, (almost) no towers this time.
You could say that Metroidvanias are on a high these years, and you would be damn right. Made by one stubborn guy Joakim Sandberg, it's the game one talented indie could make for eight years, and this accounts for a very, very good title.
A sequel to 2015's cooperative game set in the Warhammer Fantasy world doubles down on its strentghs and brings more tense fights the Chaos army and rat-men. It's a true successor to the original Vermintide and puts you in the center of the battlefield like no other game this year.
You can't get enough 3D-platforming collectathons these days, and Spyro is perfect to scratch that itch. The completely remastered, revamped, and reimagined trilogy is good not only for nostalgia, so perhaps we'll see a new proper Spyro solo game. Please?
Shwshwshwsh, booom, ratatata. A game of the year with tons of action and some really bad weather this time.
Guacamelee! 2 is a perfect example of the “if it ain't broke, don't fix it” success formula. Platforming got even tougher, there are more super-luchador moves and twice as more chickens, the plot is even more hilarious story that stiches together the Mexiverse and there are tons of puns and references. Guacamelee! 2 deserves to be on the action GOTYs list, and we'll frog-slam anybody who disagrees.
Kickstarted 5 years ago, Chasm surprisingly came out this summer to be duly praised as one of the finest Metroidvanias out there with a different adventure for everybody thanks to randomized maps. It is also one of the fines pixel-art creations this year, noth stylish and restrained.
Monster Hunter: World brought the franchise to more gamers than ever and probably is the most accessible MonHun title out there. There's also Geralt, and every game is a GOTY if it has at least one Geralt.
This free-to-play action RPG came out in open beta this May, but it already won many fans of killing powerful mosters—Behemoths—together with a friend. It recently got an approximate “release date” (April 2019), but screw this, if you can already play it, this makes Dauntless 100% eligible for an Action GOTY.
