Darklands
About
Heroic Adventures in Medieval Germany
Deep in the twilight of the Black Forest, you and your companions crouch before the robber-knight's tower. Hans, the alchemist, places his mysterious potion by the door. Ebhard the friar implores Saint Dunstan to bless your weapons and armor. And you and Gretchen grip naked long swords, praying your plate mail won't squeak.
With a thundery crash, the door explodes into fragments! You charge inside, swords and maces swinging. One guard falls beneath the power of your blade... then two more! You storm upstairs to the second floor, but there to greet you is Erhard the Red Wolf, the infamous robber-knight, surrounded by his henchmen. Hans tosses a choking potion into their faces and you quickly charge into the fray. The room echoes with the clash of steel on steel... it's a battle to the death in the Black Forest!
Prepare yourself to enter Darklands... the first realistic fantasy role-playing adventure for computers!
Leading a band of four adventurers across the sinister landscape of 15th Century Germany, you'll face the Middle Ages as people believed it to be! A land seething with mythical beasts, religious power-mongers and blood-thirsty sinister robber-knights!

Darklands is a very good Game, which does not rely on the usual Fantasy Elements, but is very much oriented towards the real Picture of the Middle Ages!
The Atmossphere is unique through the Music, Images and Lyrics you really feel like in the 1400 Century.
Everything seems authentic and even the mythical Elements fit perfectly into the overall Picture.
Unfortunately, there are quite a few Bugs and Bugs in the Steam Version of Darklands, which I Don't think existed before!
Unfortunately, the Bugs have a significant Impact on the Atmossphere, which is catastrophic in such a Game!
Examples: I attack a Predator Castle.
I defeat Robbery rippers and his entire Entourage with the Exception of a Soldier who knocks my last Character unconscious. I don't get Prey!
Next, I see a Picture of the dead Predator with the Text that the Castle Has burned down, the Predator has fled dead and his Entourage, and has been slaughtered by Farmers.
However, the Castle is still standing and the same Predator Still rules over the Castle and I can attack the Castle again!
I attack another Predator Castle!
My People are all knocked unconscious without which I could kill Predators. Next I see a Picture of the Predator As he triumphs over me with the Text that he fligs his Men to beat my Characters green and blue and further it is mentioned that all the Belongings are Robbed of me. However, a Check does not result in any Lack of weapons, Armor, Items or Money. It was all still there!
I walk through a Forest!
A Character of mine notices a Group of Thieves.
A Picture appears of a Forest with several Options.
I choose to draw arms and pounce on the Thieves. Next comes a Picture of a Forest with the Text that my Characters try to shake off the Thieves in because streets of CITY but the Thieves are too fast, catch up with my Characters and there is only the Possibility to fight! The Fight then took place in the Forest!
There are still errors, some of which are also very annoying, such as:-Sudden Teleporting of the Group on the map-Always longer stalled of the Game as if an Event would be lost but nothing happens.
-Leaves the current Floor during a Fight in a Castle, then after returning to the Floor, the Opponents are gone.
-Universities sell the same Additives as traders, Urban Chemists and Doctors. The Same applies to the Saints and alchemic Formulas. The Benefits of Universities are small.
-City Mists almost always sell only the same Formulas.
A Lot of the Formulas Were never offered to me for Purchase!
-With the Exception of the City Tunics, the stated training Costs never match the Actual training costs.
-Mislinked Places! I go to a Village and end up at a Mine.
-If you capture a Witch and extend from her the 3 Alchemist Formulas, not everyone in the Group gets all 3 Formulas!
-Also I am pretty sure that an Event is missing, so I was not once attacked by Hellhounds or invaded by evil traders during the wild Hunt.
No Idea where these whole Mistakes come from.
Maybe the English Version works better!
I would still Recommend it, as there is no comparable Game, which so realistically gives the Atmossphere and Possibilities in 1400!
