Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender reviews and comments

Rex nebular was a nominated point'n click and winner of the tilt d'Or in 1992, which is not nothing! Microprose had made strong by beating LucasArts on their own terrain. This game is indeed a success: technically it was even considered beautiful (today it has very badly aged... much more than a Monkey Island 2), and the very peculiar humor changed the usual "loufoqueries". Nothing but the booklet accompanying the game was to be chewable. Rex is the perfect prototype for the antihero. A kind of Ian solo a little jester, weeping like no two, and macho. As part of a priori mission "banal" (look for an antique vase), it will fall on a planet populated with Amazons for the least inhospitable... Despite its qualities, the game still has flaws that will put off more than one. Already, a fairly important difficulty. You will run in circles long enough at times, especially once in "the city" with the teleporters system. Plus, I don't see enough people in my opinion. We often feel lonely, and this is for me the greatest defect of Rex nebular. But there is still a game to know: too rewarded at the time, and too soon forgotten a few years later. Too bad it was never translated into French.

Take two pieces of Leisure Suit Larry, a piece of Space Quest and then make everything much more provocative and politically incorrect and there you have Rex Nebular, a humorous adventure (point and click) MicroProse. An Idiot travels through space doing jobs and trying to make ends meet. At The Beginning of the game you hire a space tycoon to find some kind of vessel on a lost planet, you star in it, and soon discover that the planet is populated only by women... YeeHaaw!!! Party Time!, and almost all the people in the game are ultra-feminists easy trigger mothers. Now as I mentioned earlier this is a good humor game, so the story is just an excuse to set the jaws and main direction of the jokes in this game. And you have to admit that when you take Rex "Himbo" Nebular will face a group of feminazis results are, even if expected, quite a laugh. The sense of humour in this game is certainly politically incorrect and very nervous, the game focuses on the reactions of animated characters such as Life, Adventures, scatological and youth in general. You Won't find clever and sarcastic remarks or witty verbal sparring partners in this game, and there's just nothing wrong with that. It Is crazy enough and mature enough to take advantage of its full potential and has a lot of hilarious moments and situations that give it a lot of charm. The game uses a typical Scumm-ish engine so you can explore the world and solve the different puzzles in the game, which to be fair are pretty easy, but smart and very well laid out. Technically Speaking of the game was also an important achievement, with characters crudely digitized (which were, however, a Marvel for the view) beautiful, detailed graphics and soft animation even boasted of digitized voice for some 3D sequences and animations. A real hilarious adventure that also happens to be a very well executed classic adventure game. This game is much closer to Larry/Monkey Island or Space Quest. It's All up to you really. Can You laugh at things like Machopolis, repeated sexual changes and a fat girl who kills you when you crash her ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ fat over you? Note: 9/10
