Detroit: Become Human is all about story, and is a terrific visual novel.  The characterization of the three main characters is clever, and the visuals are strong.  Connor was the highlight.  Actual gameplay?  It was more like a series of quick time events when not choosing dialogue options.

It is worth multiple play throughs.

Actually not a bad start to it. I just played until dawn and this one is so much better. The production value, and graphics, and gameplay is all much better and the early part of the story has actually been pretty good.

There is a much greater sense in this game that you can make decisions that lead to different outcomes. I know this because I’ve fucked up already a couple times.

I enjoy looking at the world breakdown after each mission. That adds to the enjoyment for me.

Im guessing I’m 50- 70% through the game and the story is pretty good, but sometimes a bit clumsy, and often it’s too on the nose. I’ve also made more poor decisions resulting in character deaths that I did not plan. I guess that’s the point... but I’m left a bit upset at the same time. I want to be able to change some of my decisions or search for different ways to get better results.

Marcus’s story started off strong but has fizzled out. The writing seems worse too for some reason.

I’m often picking the less walked paths which is interesting. I’m playing the game to try to create the best story. I’m choosing how I think the androids should act given their role.

I fucked connors story so I didn’t get to play for like the last three missions. It was a real piss off. I went full aggressive with Marcus so that might be partly why I kicked off the case. Because it became too big... but still. Anyways I’m replaying from where I think I fucked up.

Okay I tried again from where I thought I fucked up but I was wrong. My fucks up turned out to not be about the revolution getting to aggressive. I fucked up because I didn’t capture any deviants. So I couldn’t question them any further. Which is kind of bullshit because three of those were conscious choices I stand by. I chose to save hanks life instead of capture one deviant. I chose to let to deviants go because they were clearly in love. I chose to not kill the deviant for more information from the head honcho. Those are all legitimate choices. One time a failed a quick time and got hit by a bus, that’s on me. One time I think I was too aggressive in my questioning and the deviant killed me, that’s also be on me. I don’t feel like I played so poorly as Connor that I should have failed. Im sure there must have been other things I could have done but im no longer into it. It isn’t fun to replay these sections again. I’m now bored.

This game is the best choose your own adventure I’ve ever done. But unfortunately, that isn’t really that big of praise because i don’t play a lot because I usually don’t like them. It did have some exciting  moments, and some of the missions I was completely into, especially in the first half of the game. I’m not a fan of the ending I got though which leaves a sour taste.

Final Score: B+

Incredibly dumb, but I love it.

Probably the biggest downfall of the game is that it answers the central question for you. You have to buy in to the idea that androids should be defined as intelligent life and be afforded the same rights as humans in order to reasonably play as 2 of the 3 characters. Pretty stupid idea in my opinion. It really only works as a metaphor for racism, but David Cage isn't smart enough to connect it in any coherent way.

I'm just a sucker for the format, really. I like the choose your own adventure structure. I like that it allows the player to craft the most compelling narrative out of the clay provided. I just wish there was better clay.

I think it would be better if they focused on shorter (cheaper) games so they're less reliant on some dumbass Frenchman creating a long intertwining story that isn't a lot of nonsense.

Very funny that the president in the game is a woman that looks like Hillary Clinton, is named Warren, has a bizarre European accent, and completely inscrutable politics. This is prime Cage here. Throwing a bunch of random touches together with no comprehensible greater meaning. It all ends up being jarringly less than the sum of its parts.

Dogshit. Loved every second.
It has an awesome story, with excellent setting and characters that will make you feel inside the game. It's also funny to kill Connor.

Pretty great game like the route they were going for(androids trying to work together with humans so there wouldn't be a war if you chose right) and the development on Connor was honestly amazing hopefully this game gets a sequel. 11/10

I wanted to make fun of it like I did with Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain (and I definitely did) but it's actually a lot better written and presented than David Cage's previous Interactive Dramas™. Markus' story is perfect for the proletariat stuck in dead-end jobs where the culture of the world has replaced the word slavery for service and, all of the sudden, it's fixed, right? Riiiight. The Android Lives Matter stuff is way too on-the-nose but it'll only bother you if you take it seriously. The others are just there, so that's cool. Is it perfect? Yes, if you are stoned since it makes the game intensely more fun. Otherwise, it's at the least better than Quantic's other works.

Detroit Become Human is set in a near future where androids is a fully-realized dream. The androids does everything the humans ask them to do, until suddenly, some of them begin to stand up for themselves. In the game, you play as 3 of these androids. During the game you'll constantly make choices for each of them, which will heavily influence the course of the story. The game continues no matter what, even if a main character dies. The main characters are all really likeable, and so is the story. A lot of the performances given by the voice actors are simply incredible!

The game's main story is very reminiscent of history events like the black rights movement, which might feel a little cliche for some people, but I personally didn't have a problem with it.

Now, one of the biggest flaws of the game is that it's gameplay consists only of quick-time events and choice-making. It's pretty much an interactable movie. This is the reason why a lot of people doesn't like the game. I personally really liked it though, as I thought the main story was very compelling, but I felt it was a little woke that main characters could die as a result of you failing a quick-time event.

The graphics are also incredible, and the soundtrack is great as well.

Pros:
• Compelling main story
• Great performances
• Soundtrack and graphics

Cons:
• A lot of quick-time events
• Not a lot of gameplay

Overall score:
7/10: Great

Detroit is a narrative driven David Cage joint that plays out exactly like we have come to expect a narrative driven David Cage joint would.  The controls fluctuate between sharply responsive and not really giving a damn what you pressed.  The story doesn’t escape these mood swings either. Peaking and dipping in quality so hard and so fast it would make a roller coaster blush.  Still with all these flaws I would say I had a moderately fun time in the Motor City. I would even go so far as to say I rather like the character Connor and would be curious to see what other sorts of outcomes I could achieve with him.  Tragically though an additional play through also means another rump around with Kara which I have below zero interest in. But that’s the beauty of Quantum Dreams games. I can run through going totally nuts on a additional play through which could prove entertaining even with robot mom.
